The software that powers steemit.com is called the Condenser. Since the wallet feature has been split out into its own website steemitwallet.com, Steemit Inc has started to be faster to review third party pull requests (review requests for pulling changes made by developers).
Two of my old pull requests (PR) have been accepted
Several months ago, I made two PR and right after the separation of the wallet they got reviewed and accepted:
- Change the width of the editor preview pane to match the width of the actual post. This code change allows better post editing so that the layout of your post will not be messed up after posting. The changes were made in these two pull requests: #3063 and #3309. Announced in Downvotes Added, Community Contributions, Bug Fixes
- Several witnesses have repeatedly noticed users casting a vote for them and immediately removed the vote. This was an odd behaviour which was actually due to the fact that after voting for a witness outside of the top 100, the witness name would appear on the page with an arrow (upvote) button next to it, some users think that to confirm the vote they had to click on that arrow but the result was the opposite, it would remove the vote already casted. I've fixed this by adding a confirmation window. Changes were made to PR #41 on the Wallet repository. Announced in Steemit Community Contributions (D.tube Embeds!)
New pending PR
I'm still learning React by trying to fix issues that are small but requiring help from the community
Here are the PR that are still pending review or will be merged soon:
- Add ellipsis overflow for author description #3336 which is a fix for the issue A Specific Steemit User Profile's Description is Overlapping with the Border #2418 by @afterglow
- Toggle dark/light theme on the body tag #3355 which is a fix for the issue there is a white "tray" at the bottom of the post page in dark mode #2758 by @sneak
- Mark when a post/comment has been edited #3337 which is a fix for the issue Show last edit time of a post #1146 by abitmore
- Overwriting pending payout amount #3335 which is a fix for the issue 0.01 post/comment potential payout rounding error #1819 by @timcliff
- Replaces multiple
in post body with a single one #3333 which is a fix for the issue collapse excessive whitespace #3179 by @roadscape - Adds border around the components of a comment block #3332 which is a fix for the issue Comment layers are not visible enough #3195 by @therealwolf

- Shorten permlinks from nested comments #3328 which is a fix for the issue short comment permlinks #3278 by @roadscape
Contribute to the Condenser
There have been many complaints about Steemit.com lacking this or that. Now that Steemit Inc. is reviewing our changes and get them deployed faster, we should get our hands dirty and help improving it. So if you are a web developer and knows Javascript then gift us with your skills and contribute to the Steemit Condenser and Steemit Wallet.

When I started Steemulant Bot for the Vietnamese community, I didn't know the existence of DiscoSteem Bot and wanted something written in NodeJS. I've ended up continuing my own project as it contains code and logic for personal use and for the Vietnamese community. Great news, @quochuy! Congrats!
if I had enough time to learn react, I would like to add bittube player (like for dtube).

Now this condenser, how does it really run. Will it be implemented with the website or will the website be run on the condenser
The Steemit.com website is the Condenser. If you run a copy of the Condenser, you have a clone of Steemit.com. So you can buy a domain name, clone the Condenser repository and have your own Steem Dapp just like https://yehey.org or my personal https://steemulant.com
