Finishing the restoration of the Chimenea
After some more scrubbing of the rust out of the surface of the Chimenea, I've finally got to paint it with a layer of high temperature black paint. This paint is black and is supposed to cope with temperatures up to 300 C (572 F), that probably should be OK for the outside surface and I don't need to paint inside anyway.
The chimenea looks good now and that should help keeping it in good shape for a while.
Transplanting the chili plants
Last month, I started germinating the Aji Amarillo and other chili seeds. The seedlings looks strong now so I transplanted them into a larger pot.
First, I needed to prepare a potting mix. In a wheelbarrow, I mixed in:
- 1 part commercial compost
- 1 part commercial potting mix
- 1 part homemade vermicompost
- 1 part organic material (broken dry leaves etc...)
The seedlings are then transplanted into their new pots and the surface is covered with broken dry leaves to slow down surface evaporation .
Transplanting the red okra seedlings
The red okras seedlings are also ready to be transplanted. They are going into their dedicated raised garden bed.
Luckily, it is sunny today but not too hot so that should help with the transplant.

I've got some chili plants waiting to go in the ground, but we're set for a scorcher tomorrow, so I should probably wait until Friday.
