I'm back to work today, working from home. SBS saves the day, Optus have had technical issues broadcasting the World Cup matches so my company has got the rights to broadcast them on their behalves in order for Australian watchers to be able to follow the event: World Cup: SBS to air all games for 48 hours after Optus streaming issues
Enough talking about work, lets talk about my name! 😂
There have been many Steemians who have difficulties pronouncing my nick @quochuy so I thought I might dedicate this ULOG (Log about you, so this is about me).
Nguyễn Đình Quốc-Huy
So that is my full name, Nguyễn Đình is my family name and Quốc-Huy is my given name. I would usually write it Quoc-Huy NGUYEN DINH because in English family names come last.
Quốc means country and Huy could be translated as "emblem", so Quốc-Huy would be the national emblem. In Chinese that would be 国徽 (guó huī).
The pronunciation is tricky to explain in a blog post but lets try.
Phonetic IPA: [kuək̚˧˦ hwi˧˧]
Quốc is close enough to "kwok" but raising the pitch at the end.
Huy would be like "Huey" but with a very short "u" with the "u" pronounced french style.
In Vietnamese, when a given name is composed of two words, you can make it short and call the person by the second word of their given name. So in my case, instead of calling me Quốc-Huy you can just call me Huy.
So, I hope I've shed some light on this name of mine hahaha.

You all know that your Steem password is the access to all your STEEM, SBD, posting, transferring, everything... right?
So, please, follow these simple steps and keep yourself safe:
- Apart from the initial setup of your account, NEVER use your password ANYWHERE, if stolen, it will give full control to your Steem account.
- Backup your password and keep it somewhere safe. Use a password manager like Lastpass, print it on paper and put it in a safe (no kidding). If you forget your password, no one can help you out.
- To login for creating content and curating, use your Private Posting Key
- To make transfers and account operations, use your Private Active Key
- To encrypt and decrypt memos, use your Private Memo Key
