ULOG 044 - Winter Break Day 3

in #ulog7 years ago (edited)

This is the last day of our little winter break at the snow. Yesterday, we have decided to put the kids back at Thredboland as they only had half a day. But in the morning we thought why not get them a private lesson instead as half a day in Thredboland only gives them one hour practice while we could get them two hours as they seemed to love it. Unfortunately, when Thien-San woke up, he had some whooping cough which is not a good sign with his history of asthma. So we decided to skip the already paid lesson and head home instead, just in case he needs some medical care.

We gave San some Ventolin and he went have his breakfast while we packed the stuffs into the car. We then left our friends and headed off. As San was getting better then, we decided to have a little round in the mountains to get some pictures before the end of the holidays. So we went up the mountain road and enjoyed the view.

We arrived to the Dead Horse Gap and San saw some kids tobogganing and remembered he did not have the chance to play with his brand new one. We bought him the toboggan (sled) a month ago and he was longing to slide on it and was almost crying when we got to Thredbo and discovered that it was forbidden over there. So after checking his conditions and seeing he was all good, we let him slide down the little hill with the other kids.

It was a bit windy but luckily the mountains was sheltering the area but looking at the sky you could tell there was a lot of wind high above. Here is a GIF of the clouds from where we were, it was made from a video I took:

After playing with San and his sled, I went around and took some photos of the surroundings, most the gumtrees lost their leaves making some surreal feeling to the area.

There was some kind of dry moss on the trunk of a fallen tree, covering it and looking like a fur coat:

It must have survived thanks to the water from the melting snow:

San then asked me to help him build a snowman. We didn't want to spend too much time as we had a long way back home so we used the remaining of an old snowman to rebuild something new.

Thien-San was in heaven, you don't get to play with snow every day in Australia!

Mom came to help finish building his "snow monkey" 🤣

Then it was time for the last family picture using the "snow monkey" as an iPhone stand:

We then headed to Jindabyne to return the hired ski gears and car wheel chains and had a nice lunch in a local cafe. Next stop was Cooma where we stopped for an hour so I could get a nap before driving again. We stopped again at Goulburn for dinner and had another nap in a rest area. We got home near midnight, it's now time for me to sleep.

See you tomorrow.

Lovely. I never tried snow in real life :(

It’s fun. You should try if you have the opportunity.

My wife went to Melbourne yesterday, didn't hear anything about snow. Probably there is no snow there ?

It does no snow everywhere in AU. If she want to see snow near Melbourne, she should check this out https://m.ellaslist.com.au/articles/best-places-near-melbourne-to-see-snow

Strong kid! That was a quick recovery! I really wish it was winter here in Las Vegas! Was that cloud gif from your adventure with your family?

Seems like all settle now. As he is growing up his asthma is less intense as before. Hopefully it will be all gone one day.

That GIF is from the sky above is at the Dead Horse Gap. The actual 10 sec clip I shot looks even better as it is smoother than the GIF

I grew up in the day in age when smoking indoors was not frowned upon. I had asthma and parents that eventually stopped smokibg in the house. Excercise really helped me grow up over come that.
