The sun is starting to shine, the perfect time to explore the wild. It's currently the dry season where I live, so hunting for insects requires early morning. Recently, I've noticed that as the sun warms, the insects begin to disappear. They start looking for trees or small bushes to hide in. Before the dry season arrived, I saw insects in abundance flying here and there when the morning sun was warm. The opposite is happening now. Now they're competing for shelter.
I'm glad that, despite the dry season, there are still some small bushes that look fresh. At least the insects still have a place to survive in the current super hot weather. Like this planthopper I found. It was nestled among the grass near a local pond. I didn't find any other insects there. If there were, they would probably have already hidden. It was still very early in the morning when I explored this area.
Finding insects is currently the most challenging. But that hasn't dampened my resolve to hunt them. My determination to observe insects in the wild throughout the seasons has never wavered. Now, I'm not only able to enjoy the beauty of insects, but I'm also gaining additional knowledge. Through these observations, I can learn which insects can survive in this extreme weather.
The planthopper I found seemed to be looking for a comfortable place to hide under the warm sun. It was walking on a slender grass stem. The planthopper was very small and had a unique shape. When I looked closely, I saw that it resembled two halves of a heart joined by tranquility. The color of the planthopper wasn't striking at all, just a soft, dark shade.
