Como algunos sabrán, ayer se llevó a cabo uno de los eventos deportivos más importantes, el Super Bowl LV, en el cual se juega la final del campeonato de la NFL.
Recuerdo escuchar desde pequeña que muchas compañías mataban por poder hacer publicidad durante el partido ya que, al ser un evento seguido y visto por tantas personas, esto prácticamente aseguraba el éxito del producto en promoción.
Así mismo, el Super Bowl también se caracteriza por una presentación musical durante el tiempo de descanso o medio tiempo (el Halftime show). La banda o cantante que se presenta en este tiempo se prepara durante muchísimo tiempo para estar a la altura del evento, ya que presentarse es una gran oportunidad no sólo para darse a conocer sino porque se espera que quien es elegido se merezca estar ahí por su talento.
No soy seguidora de la NFL, así que pertenezco al grupo de personas que sólo ve el Super Bowl cerca de la hora del medio tiempo para ver la presentación musical, y es de la presentación de ayer de la cual les hablaré en esta publicación.

I remember hearing since I was a child that many companies would kill to be able to advertise during the game since, being an event followed and watched by so many people, this practically assured the success of the product being promoted.
Likewise, the Super Bowl is also characterized by a musical presentation during halftime (the Halftime show). The band or singer that performs during this time prepares for a long time to be at the height of the event, since performing is a great opportunity not only to be known but also because it is expected that whoever is chosen deserves to be there because of their talent.
I am not a follower of the NFL, so I belong to the group of people who only watch the Super Bowl around halftime to see the musical performance, and it is yesterday's performance that I will tell you about in this post.
En la edición LV del Super Bowl, realizada el día de ayer 07 de febrero de 2021, el artista encargado de hacer el espectáculo del medio tiempo fue Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, mejor conocido como The Weeknd.
The Weeknd comenzó su presentación cantando Starboy, uno de sus grandes temas. Luego, nos sorprendió (o al menos a mí) con The Hills. Realmente, sabía con antelación que The Hills estaría incluida entre la lista de canciones, no porque lo haya leído u oído en alguna parte, sino porque es uno de los primeros sencillos con los que The Weeknd se dio a conocer y tuvo mucha popularidad muy bien merecida, así que cuando digo que me sorprendí al escuchar esta canción es porque me parece tan buena, que siempre es un placer escucharla.

In the LV edition of the Super Bowl, held yesterday February 07, 2021, the artist in charge of doing the halftime show was Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd.
The Weeknd began his presentation singing Starboy, one of his greatest songs. Then, he surprised us (or at least me) with The Hills. Actually, I knew in advance that The Hills would be included in the setlist, not because I had read it or heard it somewhere, but because it is one of the first singles with which The Weeknd became known and had a lot of well deserved popularity, so when I say that I was surprised to hear this song is because I think it is so good, it is always a pleasure to listen to it.
The next hit that The Weeknd presented was Can't feel my face, to continue with I feel it coming, a song that is originally a collaboration with the duo Daft Punk. Near the end, he performed Save your tears, one of his most recent hits, then Earned it and ended with another of his most recent hits, Blinding lights.

Debo aclarar que mi opinión está muy influenciada por el hecho de que The Weeknd me parece un artista sumamente talentoso, así que seguramente de objetividad tengo muy poco.
Para comenzar, como ya estamos acostumbrados, The Weeknd vistió en tonos negros y rojos, lo que ha sido común desde el lanzamiento de su álbum After Hours a principios de 2020. En distintos videos y presentaciones de The Weeknd podemos ver que ha hecho uso del maquillaje y otros elementos (como vendaje) para parecer herido, golpeado y hasta con operaciones estéticas exageradas.
Con estos antecedentes esperaba ver a este The Weeknd extravagante presentarse en el Super Bowl pero, para mi sorpresa, apareció sin ninguno de estas extravagancias en su rostro. Al verle así no pude evitar recordar al The Weeknd que conocimos hace aproximadamente 10 años, que nos impactó con su talento en sus primeros hits, como The Hills, bastante humilde, genuino y hasta tierno.
I must clarify that my opinion is very influenced by the fact that The Weeknd seems to me an extremely talented artist, so surely I have very little objectivity.
To begin with, as we are used to, The Weeknd dressed in shades of black and red, which has been common since the release of his After Hours album in early 2020. In different videos and presentations of The Weeknd we can see that he has made use of makeup and other elements (such as bandage) to look injured, beaten and even with exaggerated aesthetic operations.
With this background I expected to see this extravagant The Weeknd perform at the Super Bowl but, to my surprise, he appeared without any of these extravagances on his face. Seeing him like this I couldn't help but be reminded of the The Weeknd we met about 10 years ago, who impacted us with his talent in his early hits, such as The Hills, quite humble, genuine and even tender.

En un evento tan seguido por personas de todo el mundo, no queda más que cantar tus más grandes éxitos, para que todos puedan reconocerte, cantar contigo o al menos comenzar a seguirte. La selección de canciones de The Weeknd me pareció bastante acertada, aunque tiene tantas buenas canciones, que en algún punto me hizo falta oír esas otras.
Si bien tiene varias colaboraciones exitosas con otros artistas, como recientemente su remix con Maluma de Hawai y de Blinding lights con Rosalía, The Weeknd decidió cantar solo todas las canciones. Por una parte, nos demostró que con su talento es más que suficiente pero por otro, hubiese sido un buen plus tener algún acompañante, sin embargo no es su mayor pecado.
Por otro lado, si bien la coreografía inicial de los coristas desde las gradas me había parecido bastante buena y precisa, la de los bailarines vendados en el campo me pareció sorprenderte y una excelente manera de cerrar.

On the one hand, he showed us that his talent is more than enough, but on the other hand, it would have been a nice plus to have an accompanist, but it is not his biggest sin.
On the other hand, while the initial choreography of the backing singers from the stands had seemed to me quite good and precise, the one of the dancers with bandages on the field seemed to me surprising and an excellent way to close.
Debo admitir que mi emoción fue decayendo a lo largo del show hasta su aparición en el campo cantando Blinding lights, cuando me volví a emocionar. Siendo injusta, no pude evitar comparar su presentación con la de Shakira y JLo en 2020, cuando estuve al borde de la silla hasta el último minuto de la presentación.
Pese a esto, siento que el Abel que se presentó el día de ayer demostró por qué merece haber vivido ese momento, aunque para algunos no haya sido suficiente.
Para mí, la presentación de The Weeknd me hizo darme cuenta de que es uno de los artistas más importantes de la última década y que ha dejado muy marcada su huella en la historia de la música, dejándonos hasta ahora unos temazos memorables.
I must admit that my excitement waned throughout the show until their appearance on the field singing Blinding lights, when I got excited again. Being unfair, I couldn't help but compare their performance to that of Shakira and JLo in 2020, when I was on the edge of my seat until the last minute of the performance.
Despite this, I feel that the Abel that performed yesterday showed why he deserves to have experienced that moment, even if for some it wasn't enough.
For me, The Weeknd's performance made me realize that he is one of the most important artists of the last decade and that he has left his mark on the history of music, leaving us with so many memorable tracks so far.
