Honor

in Hive Naijalast year

Hi everyone am @renkre30 am here with the story that talk about honor. The Seat by the Window

It was the Friday before the exams and the last day of revision in SS1C.

As usual in the class, everyone knew that whoever sat at the seat by the window today got to sit there for the whole of the exam week.

The particular way the seat was positioned gave the best view of the school compound. You could see the gate, the field and the ice cream seller. Also, the breeze that came in through the window by that seat was extra fresh.

This morning, everyone was prepared to rush for the seat as usual, but their literature teacher, Mr Ajayi, came in and stood next to the seat.

"Today, this seat is for Muna," he said, tapping the desk.

The class whispered in surprise. Muna? The quiet girl? The one who always helped clean the board and shared her notes kindly?

Mr Ajayi looked at the class and said, "Many of you think this seat is for whoever gets here first. But honour is not about rushing to take. It’s about choosing to give. Muna honours this class every day—with kindness, respect, and help. Today, we are honouring her."

The class went quiet.

From that day, things changed. Students started holding the door for one another. They shared answers without laughing at anyone. They said “thank you” more often. The seat by the window stopped being a reward. It became a reminder.

A reminder that honour is not weakness. It is showing respect and care, even when no one is watching. How can you honor someone?
