OMG you guys have been GUNNING the gardening - it's gonna look incredible when it all settles in! You've really put in an effort to get it all going. Impressed! But isn't this a fun time of year to do it?
Hardenbergia is a great choice, such a classic. I'm going for a less vigorous pandoreum up the chook enclosure but also the nasturiums have climbed up it - never thought of doing that but it works, and impresses everyone too!
Putting a placeholder down is a fab idea - why haven't I thought of that before!
Eremophila are great for the birds - although the local possum has pruned the two I have out the front.
And how good you've brainwashed your Eldest to like plants too. Our whole family loves gardening. It's a nice thing to get into together really.

Gunning enough that I woke up yesterday and today with a sore back and complained to J about how I felt really old and it sucked XD but I can't complain too much as it was entirely my fault, it only happened the couple of times where I was getting really tilted over my phone refusing to stay in my pocket so I started doing the terrible for your back bending over in half instead of crouching down like I usually do just so it would just stop freaking falling out already.
the phone was only coming out with me to make it easier to take progress shots and also in the stattistically insignificant number of times someone needs me for something urgently and it's usually for something significant at least to that person
Are there going to be a few placeholder pots in your future gardening? :D
I don't think I did much brainwashing, he had the interest before I started hardcore gardening but he has very little in the way of initiative. If he wants something enough he will figure out how and where to start or if he knows he needs to do a specific task (whether it's something he wanted to do anyway or something I ask him to do) it will get done. I basically let him have free reign in the garden at one stage and he didn't do anything with it I guess because he didn't know where to start so just didn't. It's cool that your whole family is into gardening! JJ and I like very different aspects of gardening which is usually complementary but occasionally clashes (usually when we both decide we want to plant something in an area but forget to tell the other one, he usually finds out I wanted to put something somewhere when I'm telling him what I want to get as he pays for most of the plants and things, I usually just find an unexpected plant XD). Youngest doesn't like gardening but appreciates the efforts and will help move heavy stuff around. The most hilarious comments I got were "wow cool how did I not notice this before? When did this get here? It's so much cooler out here now!" as he was tagging along when I was showing some friends the changes in the garden in person (I have been spamming our group chat with photo updates XD).
Teenagers and initiative? Lmao...Let alone observation skills?? Nahhhhh.
I always lose my phone in the garden and have to use my laptop to do the find my phone thing so it'll ring - it's always on a fencepost somewhere. My Mum put hers down on the bins last week and then she was in the back garden pruning and the podcast stopped - ah shit, she thought, running out the front to see the bin empty in the truck and the whole lot go through the crusher... an expensive mistake...
My son hates gardening. Has a distorted view of a child hood spent labouring in one. Wasn't THAT bad!
Oooohhhhhhh nooooooooooooooo DX Part of me is surprised they didn't see it but on the other hand they're not huge and if you still have black bins it's probably not that easy.
I don't know, perahps it's so automated they weren't paying attention!
