Here are some of the basic features of an apostle
- Apostles are chosen by God. (Galatiam 1:1; 1Corinthians 1:1).
- They usually have personal revelation of Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 9:1; Acts 1:21-22).
- They are filled with the power of the Holy Spirit and invested with divine authority (Luke 9:1).
- They receive new revelations and inspiration from the Holy Spirit (John 14:26).
- They should be infallible and secured against error in their public preaching and teaching (1Timothy 2:7)
- They are custodians of the true church (Bible) doctrines (Acts 2:42).
- The Apostolic ministry gift must be confirmed with signs and wonders ( 2Corinthians 12:12; Mark 16:20)
They aren't infallible. Even Peter needed to be corrected by Paul.
(Galatians 2:11-14 NIV) When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong. {12} Before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. {13} The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray. {14} When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?
There are no apostles today. If someone was an apostle today he should be able to instantly heal people.
