Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing great.
A few days ago Sony held its latest PlayStation State of Play event and I went into it with moderate expectations because over the last couple of years some showcases have been good while others felt underwhelming. Because of that, I did not expect much this time around.
So after watching the full presentation I came away excited about the future of PlayStation because the event lasted over an hour also was packed with new reveals gameplay footage release dates and a few surprises that caught my attention.
Today I want to share my thoughts on the June 2026 State of Play also discuss the announcements that stood out most to me.
𝐀 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐥'𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞

The showcase began with a look at Marvel's Wolverine, and it was an opening.
So Sony as well as Insomniac showed more gameplay and it showed how brutal and fast paced the combat is , Wolverine's attacks were aggressive and the animations were smooth. We glimpsed story elements. Other characters connect to Logan's journey. The game is scheduled to launch in September 2026.
For me, this was one of the biggest highlights of the event.
I have always liked superhero games but Wolverine seems different cause it looks darker more violent and, way more personal.

I noticed many horror games at the showcase.
So there is updates on Silent Hill Townfall, ILL is a body horror game, in addition to, Until Dawn 2 was revealed, and the horror genre is making a big comeback, which PlayStation clearly wants to be part of.
So I want Until Dawn 2 because the original game focused on choices and, consequences. I see a new standalone story. It has fresh characters.
Ill also looked totally scary also the creature designs alone made me uncomfortable which is probably exactly what the developers wanted.

As great as Wolverine looked, the biggest surprise for me was definitely God of War: Laufey.
This new chapter focuses on Faye Laufey Kratos wife instead of on Kratos again which I didn’t expect Sony to do. The reveal trailer generated excitement online. It gives players a chance to explore a character. The character has always been important to the story. The character was never fully explored in gameplay.
I think this is a bold move.
Many companies play it safe with established franchises but taking the story in a new direction feels fresh it remains to be seen if it works but I see Sony trying something different.

Another announcement that made me smile was the reveal of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis.
So Lara Croft is one of gaming is most iconic characters, and, seeing a new adventure finally get a release window was exciting, the trailer showed beautiful environments, exploration, and several familiar elements that longtime Tomb Raider fans will recognize, like that. The game is scheduled for early 2027.
I have always enjoyed games that combine exploration, puzzles, and, action, so this one instantly landed on my wishlist.

Several games caught my attention.
Kemuri featured a supernatural setting and a vertical city design.
The Lost Wild presents a survival horror experience set on an island with realistic dinosaurs.
Control Resonant also appeared, continuing the atmosphere that fans of Remedy Entertainment have come to love.
These games may not have generated the same level of hype as God of War or Wolverine, but sometimes the smaller surprises become our favourite games.

The biggest strength of this State of Play was variety.
There was something for almost everyone:
Action games
Horror games
RPGs
Survival experiences
Fighting games
Adventure titles
More importantly, many of these games focused on strong single-player experiences. Sony has always been known for story-driven adventures, and this event felt like a reminder of that identity. Many fans online seemed happy to see PlayStation leaning heavily into narrative-focused games again.
The pacing was also pretty good. There were very few moments where I felt bored or tempted to skip ahead.

Overall, I would assign the June 2026 PlayStation State of Play a score of 8.5 out of 10.
So not every announcement was for me and I hoped to see a few games that did not appear, but the combination of Marvel's Wolverine, God of War: Laufey, Until Dawn 2, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and several new IPs made this one of the most enjoyable PlayStation presentations lately.
The PlayStation lineup looks strong right now &, for the first time in a while, I finished a showcase feeling genuinely excited instead of just satisfied.
Well, I guess this is it for this post. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)
