The Early Bird Gets The Double Rainbow

in Proof of Brain4 years ago

A typhoon just tore through Japan dropping immense amounts of rain, but now it's over and everyone can have fun outside in the sauna again!

Not letting a jet lagged induced opportunity go to waste, I got up at 2am and waited 3 hours for the sun to rise to see if I could get some nice sunrise pictures with the lingering clouds.

As I made my way over to a bridge things were looking ok. There was just about the right amount of clouds for the sun to hide behind that would hopefully provide some nice filters for the sunrise.

Something stuck out to me as I passed by this small rice farm, despite the heavy rains, the fields were full and muddy.

Moving on I made it to the bridge and looked back at the remaining storm clouds headed my way.

Arriving at the bridge I was greeted with nice views not hindered by the plethora of concrete mansions(apartments) everywhere.

Another look back and I started to see a rainbow forming.

As the sun got higher on the horizon, the rainbow became more pronounced.

Along with the first rainbow the second rainbow began to form.

This was as clear as the second rainbow got though while the first continued to get more vivd.

It was a nice, Welcome Home, sight and gave me a feeling of hope that my time here is going to be special.

In closing, here is one more shot of the sunrise.

All pictures taken with my iPhone11.

Thanks for reading!

rainbow and rain would be nice after this heatwave here in Europe :) Great pics enjoy your weekend

I'm sure it will come as the US & Mexico have been seeing flooding. Japan is very wet country right in the path of typhoons so none of this is out of the ordinary.

Thanks on the photos. They didn't turn out as good as I had hoped. I'll get some much better ones taken in the coming weeks.

here we have almost empty rivers like the Rhine ... boats can no longer load full capacity due to shallow waters

Ya, I have been following the news. Seems California stole Germany's rain.

😲 wow that is madness

Whew, man all that jumping back and forth between Japan and America must be rough. But I suppose you do it enough you are getting used to it?

Those are some great photos!

It is rough, but sometimes it's easier than other times, like flying in or out of Narita. Haneda is so much more convenient and the views of the city & bay are nice. The easing of COVID restrictions has made things nice too. No more testing when we land, just put a tracer app on your phone and you're good to go.

As for the pictures, they didn't turn out as I had hoped. Not sure if it's me or the sunrise vs sunset. The sunsets here are really beautiful and usually produce nice pictures for even a novice like me. Thanks anyway.

BTW, several of us Tokyo HIVE members are talking about hanging out in September, kind of an informal meet up if you're interested.

Are the restrictions less for both countries? We want to take a trip to the States, but I haven't looked into it yet. I've never flown in or out of Haneda, just Narita a few times. Usually Chubu though, which isn't the nicest airport but does have some cool views.

Do you know when in Sept are you all meeting up? I don't know if I can travel up there in Sept, but I could check my schedule and see if it's possible. A meet up would be fun.

Flying back to the states has lately been just a negative PCR test if you are a citizen or green card holder. If not then you must be vaxed. No quarantine. Japan just issued the same guidelines as the US.

Haneda is much more convenient. It's also cheaper and faster getting home. Of course the $400 price difference makes those conveniences moot.

Haven't set a date for the meeting yet, but possibly the weekend of the 16th. Will nail down a date by the end of the month.

You must be killin' it out here!
