RE: Trying Versus Achieving???

in Music5 days ago

evidentally and obviously written by some well meaning... but hilariously clueless non-musicians

With some of the complaining I sometimes here about various courses it feels like this seems to be some kind of standard practice so unfortunately you're in some kind of company and if this is actually some kind of standard practice I have to wonder why.

I know that it "elitist"... and this sort of thing goes against the prevailing "inclusiveness" ideas

Inclusiveness is givng people a fair shot that otherwise might unfairly not get one. I don't know why anyone thinks it means that they should just automatically do well because they showed up and tried a little bit. And even if they're trying their very bestest and it's not there yet, sometimes you gotta learn that your best isn't good enough but at least you gave it all you had at the time and maybe next time you'll have more to try with.

I'm really glad we don't have that problem at work, they're either good enough to badge this year or they're doing optionals and trying again next year. Having said that I also hate this time of year where I'm stressing if I've done enough to get them to where they want to go x_x
