Yes yesโฆ I know! ๐ For the last couple of days, Iโve been talking about the same app โ HiveFestLeaks โ and guess what? Today again we are talking about it! Because when youโre building something awesome for the Hive community, updates deserve spotlight! ๐
๐ What is HiveFestLeaks?
HiveFestLeaks is a fun, community-driven application where HiveFest attendees can submit funny, silly, or memorable moments from HiveFest events.
Other Hive users can pay a small amount to unlock those memories, and the best part?
๐ฐ The paid amount goes towards funding the next HiveFest event.
๐ By community. For community.
Thatโs the spirit of Hive! โค๏ธ
โ๏ธ Major Technical Improvement โ No More .ENV Dependency!
Previously, the configuration for unlocking HiveFest leaks (like payment amount and recipient account) was stored inside the .env file.
Which meant:
- Any change in unlock amount ๐ต
- Any change in recipient account ๐ค
- Any change in memo ๐
๐ Required a full application restart ๐
Not very dynamic, right?
๐ What We Did Now
We have:

Removed dependency on .env configuration
โ
Moved all configs to MongoDB
โ
Made the system fully dynamic
โ
Eliminated the need for application restart
Now when a user tries to unlock a HiveFest leak:
- The app fetches configuration from MongoDB.
- Unlock amount is dynamically decided.
- Transaction memo is fetched from config.
- Recipient account is also fetched dynamically.
๐ฅ No restart required.
๐ฅ Fully dynamic.
๐ฅ Production ready.
๐ Admin Control via Secure APIs
On top of that, we built admin-only APIs ๐ฏ
Meaning:
- Only authorized admins can change config.
- Temporary test payments can be set (e.g., 0.1 HBD).
- Recipient can be changed for testing.
- Everything is access-driven and secure.
This was fully deployed and tested โ not just by us but also by user Luis88 ๐
