I believe we could land people within a decade but I don't know that what we'd be able to do would be considered colonization. I think the next decade would allow us at best to land with heavy reliance on additional payload resupplies from additional ships. I doubt we'd have much development of Martian resources at first.

The reason is because, I still feel there are still lots to explore before we try to colonize on Mars. We don't have enough information yet from the researchers about the survival of living beings. If at all we break through, our first attempt will be to setup a first food source there and humans moving there would be the last option. I don't foresee it happening in the next decade.

Maybe we should explore further the bigger moons of the other planets.
