If you were going to be on Doomsday Preppers, which disaster would you pick as your reason for prepping?
I think it's pretty clear that the preppers featured on this show are forced by the producers to pick one doomsday scenario and use that as an explanation for why they're prepping.
Realistically, people who prep for doomsday scenarios are prepping for disaster in general, not for one specific thing.

That would probably be the best way to go, especially for people who don't survive. It'd be sort of like dying in your sleep, which is what people seem to consider to be ideal.

That's definitely a possibility. It remains to be seen whether or not that would actually wipe out humans. There's always been war and we're still here.

Plenty of nut jobs focus their prep on one major tinhat issue even if they also prep for other things in general.
I believe that for sure, but I definitely still think a lot of them probably are forced to just focus on one for the sake of the show.
I wonder if there are any post show interviews with guests from the show.

Every doomsday prepper I have ever talked to has always had "the one" big event they feared the most. These aren't emergency preppers, these are often people prepping for conspiracy theories and a misunderstanding of nature and science (overblown reactions to possible events).
The sad thing is, one day some of them will be right. Then the people who have bee preparing will have an advantage. If it gets that bad, though, I'm okay with just being dead. I don't really have much of a desire to kill or be killed for water and food. :)
If shit hits the fan and you need food and water you can come kick it with us, Just need to carry your own weight. That wont mean stealing food.
No. They wont be "right". The few things on that list that may actually happen wouldnt cause a "doomsday" situation and even if they happen these people have overblown the situation. You can be just as prepared with a general 3 month emergency supply, basic outdoor/indoor/tech skills, and being able to control oneself during an emergency. The one guy I remember from the show that will for sure get killed quickly is the idiot trying to be a "raider". I forget which season that is. If these things happen the biggest "doomsday" issue will be stupid ass people like that. The majority of people will act fine through the stress and work together, like in most emergency situation. There always the idiots as well. You wont be dead unless near the center of it all, maybe. A virus is probably the most worrisome, but a "doomsday" situation is still ridiculously unlikely. I may have a bigger chance eating an apple seed, taking a dumb, and it growing an apple tree in my toilet. Be prepared, but don't let it control your life like some of those people. If its just something someone likes to do and its not some tin hat stress ball then do what you want. Thats what matters most. To be clear Im talking about over preparing. Prepparedness is a huge plus.
