So to continue on my rant of materials costing more and how it is directly affecting my business and myself personally.
I signed a job on Friday night. It’s a full kitchen in a very historic town which is pretty upscale. The kitchen isn’t huge but it’s a nice size. I gave them a quote on the Friday before.
In that one week time my material costs have increased by over $6,200. Now that is a direct hit to my bottom line. No ifs no ands and no buts.🤬🤬🤬
This piece was bought quite a few years back. It was a limited mintage hand poured piece from Monarch Precious Metals. This piece was limited to 500 total pieces. They didn’t last very long from what I remember. It’s a ten ounce dragon round pour. It comes in a specifically made oak presentation box, and is bad ass.

Who we are
Monarch Precious Metals is a privately held, family owned and operated company. The company was founded in 2008 in response to the increasing demand for gold and silver bullion. We employ a small crew of dedicated and skilled workers to produce unique bullion pieces as well as industry standard investor grade bullion.
The journey so far!
The founding of Monarch started with a small local coin shop, Oregon Coin and Jewelry. The shop was having trouble sourcing silver bullion to sell to its customers. From there the idea of making silver bullion was born.
The next phase was hand pouring silver bars using a small induction melter typically used in jewelry making. Those bars were then hand stamped with basic individual letter stamps.
Eventually, Monarch Precious Metals was formed and moved to a larger warehouse in Phoenix, Oregon for production where we first made some of the original struck 1/10th ounce silver rounds and started machining our own molds for hand pouring small sheets and small bars. In 2011, we moved to our current location in Medford, Oregon. We have continually improved our production processes and introduced a large array of new products over the years. That must be super frustrating, are you able to revise your estimate?
It sure is. In my state you have to honor a written estimate for 14 days. There’s no way to adjust it. It’s considered a binding agreement unless the homeowner alters it.
Are they aware about the unexpected tariff surprise.? Anyways, hope it works out for you.

I remember this piece! MPM does fantastic work! If I could go back in time I'd buy this, but I passed at the time because of premiums.

Wow, that is quite the hike! That really sucks! I know a lot of contractors have been writing in contingents because they never know what the prices are going to do with the orange man in charge.
