Hola! Hoy estaré compartiendo por acá otra de mis visitas a los lugares históricos y culturales de Bogotá, en esta ocasión les compartiré mi experiencia en el Museo de Botero, ubicado en el centro de la ciudad. Para la visita, nos encontramos con dos amigos en la zona de La Candelaria, lugar del que ya les hablé en una publicación anterior en esta comunidad, y pueden leer acá para conocer toda la movida histórica, gastronómica, artística y cultural de esa zona en Bogotá.
Hi! Today I will be sharing here another of my visits to the historical and cultural places of Bogota, this time I will share with you my experience at the Botero Museum, located in the center of the city. For the visit, we met with two friends in the area of La Candelaria, a place I already told you about in a previous post in this community, and you can read here to know all the historical, gastronomic, artistic and cultural movement of that area in Bogota.
Ahora bien, quizás algunos conozcan al artista Fernando Botero, otros quizás no, pero a modo de presentación me gustaría mencionar que es un artista (dibujante, pintor y escultor) con gran reconocimiento internacional, proveniente de la ciudad de Medellín, Colombia. Sus obras tienen algo particular y es la presentación de las figuras de gran volumen y grosor. No solo las personas pintadas por el artista lucen gruesas, sino también las frutas que dibuja, animales, árboles y demás elementos que acompañen la pintura. Este sello personal hace que sea sencillo identificar una pintura del autor, pues es un estilo muy característico.
Now, perhaps some of you know the artist Fernando Botero, others may not, but by way of introduction I would like to mention that he is an artist (artist, painter and sculptor) with great international recognition, from the city of Medellin, Colombia. His works have something particular and it is the presentation of figures of great volume and thickness. Not only the people painted by the artist look thick, but also the fruits he draws, animals, trees and other elements that accompany the painting. This personal stamp makes it easy to identify a painting by the author, as it is a very characteristic style.
Para poder acceder al museo de Botero hay que hacer una reserva digital desde su página, la entrada en totalmente gratuita. Sin embargo, también se puede pagar a un guía para hacer el recorrido y contar así con las explicaciones pertinentes. En nuestro caso, decidimos ir sin guía, la experiencia fue de igual modo disfrutable. También hay que tener en cuenta los horarios de admisión, los estaré compartiendo por acá.
To access the Botero museum you must make a digital reservation from their website, the entrance is completely free. However, you can also pay a guide to make the tour and have the relevant explanations. In our case, we decided to go without a guide, the experience was still enjoyable. You also have to take into account the admission hours, I will be sharing them here
Al entrar al museo te consigues con un lugar muy limpio, organizado y verde. En el centro hay un jardín sumamente cuidado, y en los alrededores se encuentran los salones con las exposiciones, en un primer y segundo piso. A continuación compartiré algunas fotografías del jardín, visto desde el primer y segundo piso, los pasillos y demás zonas verdes.
When you enter the museum you find a very clean, organized and green place. In the center there is a very well kept garden, and in the surroundings are the halls with the exhibitions, on the first and second floor. Below I will share some pictures of the garden, seen from the first and second floor, the corridors and other green areas.
Dentro de los salones puedes tomar fotografías sin ninguna problema pero manteniendo distancia de la pintura, pues si te acercas demasiado suenan las alarmas de seguridad. En cada exposición también hay vigilantes para garantizar el cumplimiento de las normas del lugar. Además, cada trabajo presenta escrito título, fecha de creación y artista. Las obras de Botero son muy variadas, se observan sus primeros dibujos, las pinturas con su estilo personal denominado "Boterismo" y muchas esculturas. Acá comparto mis obras favoritas de este autor, son fotografías tomadas por mi misma en el museo.
Inside the exhibition galleries you can take pictures without any problem, but keep your distance from the paintings, because if you get too close the security alarms will sound. In each exhibition there are also guards to ensure compliance with the rules of the place. In addition, each work has a written title, date of creation and artist. Botero's works are very varied, you can see his first drawings, paintings with his personal style called "Boterismo" and many sculptures. Here I share my favorite works of this author, they are photographs taken by myself in the museum.
Algo que fue sumamente interesante para mi fue el hecho de tener la posibilidad de apreciar, de forma gratuita, pinturas de grandes artistas internacionales, además de las obras de Botero, también pude reconocer a Picasso, Dalí y Monet. Estas obras fueron donadas por el mismo Botero para ser expuestas en el museo y así aportar al enriquecimiento cultural de la ciudad.
Something that was extremely interesting for me was the fact that I was able to appreciate, free of charge, paintings by great international artists, in addition to Botero's works, I was also able to recognize Picasso, Dalí and Monet. These works were donated by Botero himself to be exhibited in the museum and thus contribute to the cultural enrichment of the city.
Los museos, como las iglesias, las plazas y las bibliotecas de una ciudad dicen muchísimo de un país y de su gente. Por eso vale la pena tomarse un tiempo para visitar las exposiciones artísticas en nuestras ciudades, sobre todo si en ellas trabajó algún artista local, pues eso es mucho más enorgullecedor. Las pinturas y esculturas son parte de la cultura general y es importante que tengamos un conocimiento básico de ellas, y de sus artistas.
The museums, like the churches, squares and libraries of a city say a lot about a country and its people. That is why it is worth taking the time to visit the art exhibitions in our cities, especially if a local artist worked in them, because that is much more proud. Paintings and sculptures are part of the general culture and it is important that we have a basic knowledge of them, and their artists.
A veces me pregunto por qué motivo disfruto tanto visitar museos y apreciar de cerca las piezas de los artistas... Me parece que detrás de ese interés por el arte está la intención de sentirme inspirada por estas personas, de carne y hueso, que son reconocidas al rededor del mundo gracias al gran trabajo que han realizado, a la pasión y constancia que le ponen a las cosas que hacen. Todas las exposiciones que vi ese día resumen años de práctica, estudio, experiencia, y probablemente frustraciones. También siento que a través de estas obras puedo aprender un poco sobre latinoamérica, sobre la cultura de un país y sobre la visión del mundo de un ciudadano.
Sometimes I wonder why I enjoy visiting museums so much and appreciate the artists' pieces up close.... It seems to me that behind this interest in art is the intention of feeling inspired by these people, flesh and blood, who are recognized around the world thanks to the great work they have done, the passion and perseverance they put into the things they do. All the exhibitions I saw that day summarize years of practice, study, experience, and probably frustrations. I also feel that through these works I can learn a little about Latin America, about the culture of a country and about a citizen's vision of the world.
