My strategy using the flying squid is to utilize his reach ability. I start off by putting the Cruel Sethropod as a low budget tank. Followed by the flying squid in order for him to use his reach ability. Then I put the support monsters Scavo Hireling and Merdaali Guardian. Finally, I use Feasting Seaweed to deal additional damage from the backfield. The support monsters should keep up the life and armor of the tank while Flying squid is in position to attack as well as not take damage. Every card will have a small amount of armor granted by the summoner. Keep in mind my Flying squid is level 3- this means he has a melee attack of 3 and 8HP. If the enemy takes out the tank, they still have to deal with the squid. In my battle the squid was the last attacker on the field, all other attacking units had been taken out. But thanks to the high HP of Flying squid and assistance from my support monsters, the flying squid takes out 4 enemies single handedly. They were unable to deal a large enough amount of damage before the support
crew repaired the life and armor of the flying squid. In conclusion, the squid would work great as a tank, but then you get no benefit of the reach ability. Setting him as a secondary tank ensures he gets as many hits in as possible before even taking any damage. Then steps up with a very large number of HP and attack for the enemy to deal with. Check out my battle link and you'll see, even though the enemy was sapping life and growing in HP, they could not produce enough damage to take down the squid assisted by a support crew. This is a very powerful common card.
