Busy going nowhere.

I decided to take a few days away from posting on Hive as I was concerned they were all pretty much the same, you know, here's Lola on the beach and look at the size of my cucumber.

By the way, it's this big now.

Instead of getting up and spending 30 - 45 minutes sat at the computer browsing this lovely place, I've spent it riding through the Moab Desert on my exercise bike.

My exercise bike isn't anything fancy but it does allow me to connect it to my iPad using bluetooth and ride along with a trainer using the iFit app. My bike doesn't have all the fancy controls of the expensive bikes, they can tilt forwards and backwards as the angle of the road changes. Mine can just about manage changes in resistance but it can get a little confused with that at times. Even so, it helps make what can be a pretty boring activity that little bit more enjoyable.

I had a rest day yesterday after riding every day for a while and decided to go out for a C25K job this morning between the thunderstorms. It has been far too hot for me to run this week but it's lovely and fresh now we've had a good amount of rain. I managed to pause my watch half way through and got soaked but other than that it was all marvellous.

I've also been watching the calories and have just started some intermittent fasting. The weight has been coming off slowly but I want to accelerate it a little if only for a few weeks. I get significant back discomfort and sciatica when carrying extra weight which stops me being active, which is then counter productive to trying to be more active. I'm only eating between 11am and 7pm at the moment. So far I've found it has been easier to not eat before 11 than it has been to not eat after 7. Probably a sign of how much I've been snacking!

Taking a road trip on the exercise bike looks like fun. I used to use a cross-trainer, but just tended to watch TV whilst on it. I gave it away in the end as I found running was more fun.

You can look forward to munching on that cucumber. Not many calories in that. I'm hoping our tomatoes will ripen soon. Lots of little green ones on the plants.

We got thunder and rain yesterday, so the garden will benefit. I am hoping it stays a little cooler.

I imagine it's amazing with the fully functional bike. I've also tried some mountain biking routines and they can be lovely and varied and can really make my legs burn. I have much more endurance for difficult riding than I do for simple running it seems.

I've not had any tomatoes yet but I'm hoping we'll get some soon. Lots of flowers. No peppers yet either.

The sun is coming out now so I imagine it's going to become lovely and humid. We have a varied few days ahead of us so hopefully the rain will have an opportunity to penetrate the ground. I imagine much of todays has just run off into the drainage as the ground is so hard.

Exercise equipment has got pretty advanced lately. I see people spending thousands on things like the Peloton bikes. I would like to do more cycling and am happy to get out on the tracks around here when I find time. I try to avoid the roads where I can.

Looks like you have a nice fasting break from Hive as well. I was also away for a couple of days. It felt like a nice time out to be honest. I spent too much time on Hive 😇
I started intermittent fasting in May after my younger bro who is a doctor in Texas suggested me to challenge myself. He was worried coz we have diabetes in our family history. I am typically an active individual but it's always good to take precautions. So, I am doing 11:30 to 7. I wake up early in the morning and I find it tough to not anything in the morning really tough. I love avocados toast in the morning with my freshly brewed coffee but its only coffee these days.

4 lbs off this week but that could be a fluke! We shall see if it continues! I've held out until 12 most days and had a monster brunch of toast, avocado, tomato and smoked kippers. An odd combination but absolutely delicious! I've found that exercising in the morning feels harder. Odd as I pretty much always exercise before eating in the morning.

I need to make some lifestyle changes as I'm overweight, suffer with back problems and was deemed to be borderline prediabetic during my health check last year. Would be great to be "normal" when I get retested.
