The cool blue glow of the night sky, a sturdy stone bridge with light catching the arches, and tall, modern buildings shining in the distance. This scene doesn’t come from my local neighborhood, but was actually inspired by a nighttime urban moment I saw while watching a TV series. The atmosphere was just so striking that I knew I had to capture it in my own way for this digital drawing.
The view across the water immediately made me think of the SketchQuest contest hosted by @quatro, so I took the time to finish this piece and make it fit for submission. I focused on trying to get that urban, cinematic feeling of seeing bright lights contrasted against the cool blues of evening. The reference scene has snow actually but I am afraid this composition might end up with everything white so I skipped the snow. It’s a bit of an experiment, trying to recreate a setting from TV
It was fun to use a fictional inspiration for this urban sketch and challenge myself with the light and reflections. I’m satisfied with how it turned out and that I got it ready in time to submit. The digital brush mostly gouache had some challenges like a layer not adding to my intent for some weird reason but it was fun
