Like a lot of people I have plenty of tools, but finding the right one when you need it can be tricky. I quite often do bits of wiring or soldering as well as needing to change batteries in things that need a screwdriver. I decided it was time to put my Bambu Lab A1 3D printer to work on organising my tools.

This is based on the Ikea SKÅDIS system that was intended to things like desk items, but the 3D printing community has really taken to it and you can find attachments for all sorts of item.
The issue around my desk is a lack of wall space as I have guitars and pictures covering most of it. I do have these hefty speakers though and decided that I could make use of those. They are made from thick wood and so easy to screw into.
The base board is about as big as my printer can do, but was just right. Bambu Labs just brought out the A2L that can go a bit bigger.
I had plenty of options for attachments. Some I printed either went wrong or were just not right for me. I tried a screwdriver rack with slots, but some would not stay in that. The items I printed were:
If you have an appropriate printer you can do these straight from the mobile app, but you can also download the models to use on other printers. Your needs will probably be different, but I hope this gives you some ideas.

All this used up a fraction of a roll of filament, so will not have cost much. I may make another for the other speaker. I did wonder if things would rattle when music is playing, but I think it would have to be pretty loud for that to happen.

Previously the tools were in this tub. I may put the items in something else. I have some small drawers that I got many years ago and they are full of electrical parts. As for my shed, that is a bit of a nightmare!
I still have plans to get into designing things to print when I find the time, but there are massive libraries of items from others. As well as Bambu's Makerworld there are Thingiverse, Printables and Cults 3D. You should find most things you might want on those.
Happy printing!
The idea of 3D printing a tool holder is great. I also use a 3D printer and know how to model in 3D, so I just need the time to make a custom tool holder.
I like these modular systems. There are others depending on your needs. I think you can get model templates to ensure things will fit. Show us what you make.
Impressive... most impressive.
That is so handy to keep your stuff organised, how long did it take to print that out?
There may be about 8-10 hours of printing there, but you can generally just leave it to get on. I just had some where things did not stick to the bed properly and then it just goes wrong. The printer takes a few minutes to calibrate and warm up. It is possible to print several things at once, so you can save time by doing batches.
My neighbour says he may put in an order for some of these. I've made him a few other bits.
That's pretty cool! I'm still kicking around the idea of getting a 3D printer. I still can't really justify the cost right now though.
It is a luxury, but I am sure you would find things to print off.
Nice use of the printer. There was a youtuber that was recording his process to build an organizer with a rail system. Very interesting, but seems complex. At the end of each short he asks for insight on how to improve and always gets better and better.
Some people design amazing stuff. You need to have the ideas and carry them through. We have a few people on Hive into this stuff so I'd like to see more from that community.
Unfortunatly that's not my case, but I love the 3d printed action figures, much much cheaper than if you were going to buy it.
Seeing the way you arrange your tools is amazing and with that you can get straight to the tools you need at the right time.
That's the idea. Other people have built massive racks for all their tools. If you click those links you will see examples. I am starting small.
Starting small is the best way to get started. I check those links out.
Friend, congratulations, that's excellent, very creative
I wish I could design this stuff, but it's fun anyway.
