Time for another drum cover. This is another from the Drumeo library from Coldplay. This is rated as pretty simple and it mostly is apart from a few 'ghost' notes. It does have some variety as there are several different bass drum patterns through the song. This was only my second play-through of the song following the notation on my tablet.
I am playing my Roland TD-07KX kit on the LiveAcoustic preset. The tablet audio comes into that over Bluetooth and the audio output goes into my interface.
I wanted to try a different camera angle this time. My main webcam is not easy to move, so I set up my phone by my feet. I actually had a second webcam in front of me. I had two instances of the recording software running, but this other one did not save anything. I need to experiment with that, but did not have time today. I edited in Kdenlive, which I still have a lot to learn about. My priority is making music rather than messing around with the software, but I need to do both really to improve my videos.
Today is #Forkday for Hive celebrating three years since we became independent of toxic corporate control. I did a little power up to mark that achievement.
I need to rehearse some guitar and ukulele for a band gig at the weekend as well as recording a song I have been figuring out a fresh arrangement for.
Rock on!

Happy #forkday Steve. The drumming is coming together I see. Can't 'beat' a live drummer so much better than a drum machine. No pun intended 😂🎶🎸👍🏼
Happy forkbirthday Steven and the rehearsal went well all ready for Saturday. And the video is fine so improvement not really nesseccary 😉
You're too kind. I need to practice other stuff for the gig. This was just for my own amusement.

Nice job! You are really coming right along! You know, in the past I always felt like the songs from the 50's and 60's were pretty non-technical as far as drums go. Then I started listening more and I was quite wrong. Especially bands like the Beatles. Coldplay has some really complex stuff in their own right.
I do listen to the drums in songs more than I used to. A lot of the early rock and pop drummers would have had a jazz background, so they would have the skills. What tends to amaze me is how good many bands are on their first album, but then they probably gigged for years before that. These days you can get a contract with a Tiktok video in your bedroom. Music has changed and can be more about novelty than musical skills. That said, there are great talents in every generation.
Remember when they were saying drummers would be replaced by machines?
Yeah, there are a lot of really good bands out there. The good things is now we see them. In the past they would have flown under the radar unless they got that big break. I think Greta Van Fleet is a good example of that. Who is going to sign a band from Frankenmuth, MI and yet here they are. Probably similar to how they think AI is going to replace a bunch of other stuff right now...
Love the look of concentration on your face, I think Mick Fleetwood is safe in his job for now 😂
He's got to retire some time! I'm still new to this really, but having fun.
That's the objective "fun" One life live it
It's a beautiful song... timeless.
Nice addition to the celebration around here. I had no idea this was going to be such a thing :D Brilliant!

I’m curious tho how did you get the idea of setting the camera by your feet?
I've seen other people do it. I'm experimenting with my videos.
Wow some sneaky little drum beat changes in that one. Well done Steve.
Cheers. I had to pay attention to the dots. That is an exercise in itself and it's helping my feeling for rhythms.

It's really enjoyful, I can't stop my body and hands to move with the druming.
Way to go, man! I would also like to have all those cd’s in the back.
I've collected those over many years.
Nice one @steevc! And Happy Forkday to all 😊😊
