You may know that one of the bands I am in is @theriverkicks who play a mix of traditional folk tunes and more modern music. This is where I get to play the drums and I am really enjoying it. We have a gig coming up in August, so we need some rehearsals to get us all together. The latest was at London Road Studios in Baldock. They have a series of sound-proof rooms where bands can play. One advantage over our previous venue is that a drum kit is already there. I just needed to bring cymbals, sticks and my snare drum. The room also has a PA system, but then we needed more channels than the mixing desk provides as we have a lot of singers. We just had to swap some cables around.

The gig is at Goatfest, which is not too far from us. You will find us listed on the Sunday. We will be playing on their smaller stage in a tent and we need to sort out what we need to take as we will not have much time to get set up. They may also supply the drums, so I could have it easy.
The video is of a song that I hope we will be playing. Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys is a fun one for me as I can do lots of drum fills. I got some good feedback from the band on my playing and I think I have really improved through working with the band. It is quite different to playing along to videos at home.

The studios are on an industrial estate that had a big fire a while back. The wrecked buildings have yet to be cleared. I was not going to imitate @slobberchops and try to get in there. It is likely to be dirty and dangerous.
Rock on!

The fence looks daunting but theres generally a break somewhere. Once in the height will mask you from the Karen’s.
I do host novice training courses in how to be an elite ninja and not been seen for the over 50’s of you are interested?
It looked fairly well sealed and I was busy making music anyway. It is bound to be a mess as it was a big fire.
I'm sure your training fees are very reasonable. Do they include insurance?
I've been watching some more of the Drumeo videos that they for free on YouTube. Very cool stuff.
They do some great deep dives into some of the top drummers. It's like Netflix for dummers :)
yeah, it is pretty cool. I think my favorite videos are when they have people sight read popular songs they have never heard before.
Those are fun too. They tend to either let them hear the original drums to imitate them or take the drums out and let them make up their own. It shows the skills of these players.
For sure! So talented!
Excelente progreso con la batería, muchas felicidades.
Getting myself seated to enjoy you playing those tunes will be great. Thanks for sharing this with us. Is this supposed to be a recent recording or it's an old video? That was a great performance @steevc
This was yesterday. You'll have to come to a gig for more. We hope to play other places this year.
I hope you have enough fun at Goatfest on Sunday
Give it your best and I’m sure people will be amazed
