I would like to see Hive be part of the Fediverse. The issue may be that a lot of people there are very anti-crypto. Of course we know that Hive is better that a lot of crypto in various ways and it may be a struggle to convince them. Someone did start building a link before, but I think it only got as far as making profiles visible over there.
Anonymity can be a harder issue to solve and Hive does not really do it. You have to be very careful not to leak information if you want to protect your identity.
Of course governments want to track everything, but then so do corporations. The internet has changed a lot since those early days.
Thanks for commenting. I love this geek talk and you are right about Hive not being very privacy focus. BCH and now BTC have got into some sort of social network with Nostr and some apps like Memo.cash and read.cash and bchnostr.cash.
I know Ethereum has its own SoFi movement, not sure about their status. But besides social network, wonder how many protocols have been drafted but they have becomed abandoned. I remember Namecoin for Domains and even a Blockchain based DNS protocol with okTurtles.
I'll always be a geek :) I've seen how things have evolved over decades, but the internet tends to be very corporate these days. Using open protocols to link things up is much better, but it can be harder for non-techies to grasp.
I don't care about non techies, I just want more techies.
LOL! That limits the audience a bit, but I'm happy to see more techie talk.
Well I have no use for grandma posting cooking recepies over encrypted cyphers.
