Art has been seen as a luxury by majority of people. I'm pretty sure you're familiar of the names Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Michelangelo for example. These artists from the renaissance period (except for van Gogh) had made a name for themselves in the history of art for their legendary works and today, their art still continues to inspire young artists.
The works of these legends are auctioned and sold in crazy prices and it's also crazy that there's actually people who would spend millions or maybe billions for a painting. But we all know these pieces aren't just paintings. These comes with a story from the past, material, and of course, the artist who made the painting.
However, these men, aside from their talent and hard work, have been graced by luck as well. And that's my wish for every artist today. There are lots of talented artists right now and it's also quite sad that a lot of the talented ones get little recognition nor earn from their craft. Lucky for the few ones who really make it big and get huge following for they can really tell with confidence that they can make a living through their hobby or passion.
(Regarding to what I've said in the beginning, art is seen as luxury. Yes, because most art is expensive. But if look deeper into it, art must also be considered a necessity. It is a form of expression and fulfills one's aesthetic needs. It is a symbol or representation of identity, culture, and history. Art is a necessity.)

When an artist friend posted about selling her artworks through stickers and pins weeks ago, I told myself that I should buy at least something from her items. You know the feeling of selling something and then the people you expect to support you aren't there? I've always felt that way so when I found out that she is starting her art business, I immediately told her I would buy something. Besides, her products are affordable. I want her to feel the excitement of actually selling her product for the first time. You know, the experience of packing and shipping products.
However, she has problems with shipping when she was just selling it on Facebook. She told me that it was more expensive than the items she is selling and so she put my order on hold until she gets to set up her store on the e-commerce app, Shopee.
By the way, her store's name is leannnwithdoublen. Just type the name on Shopee and you'll find her store or you can just click her name up there. You can also follow her on Instagram with the same name as her username.
This friend sells her paintings through waterproof stickers, oil paintings and she also creates handmade clay pins. If you're into this stuff, search for her store on Shopee and you might just find something you like!
After almost three weeks, she sent me a message that her Shopee store is already up and so I immediately checked out the item I was eyeing to purchase, a black cat clay pin.
I also added one waterproof sticker, a beautiful sunflower she drew and painted herself.
The items I bought were not a lot but I just want her to experience selling just like what I've mentioned earlier. I don't actually know what to do with the sticker. I don't know where to stick it since I like my things to have a clean and plain look. Lol. For the meantime, I inserted it in my phone's transparent jelly phone case. Now it looks like it's been stick at the back of my phone. Sorry, but I am not sharing a photo of it because my phone case already has discoloration to it and it looks gross. Not good for blogs. Haha!
Speaking of delivery and packaging, since we live in the same province, my parcel came in the next day. Just like how long it takes for my orders to arrive coming from Manila. I disinfected the package first just to be safe.
And here it is. Securely and neatly wrapped. I already took it out from the courier's pack.
I was amazed with her packaging, it's cute and eco-friendly, minus the bubble wrap. Hehe. The parchment-like paper which she used as a wrapper is a brilliant choice.
One thing I got curious about was how she printed on the envelope. I still haven't asked her about it because it may feel like I am prying too much.
She also drew a cat which she said is special just for me. (Oh, how sweet!❤️) Other buyers won't have a freebie drawing. Lol. There's also a free bouquet waterproof sticker. She also wrote a heartwarming letter for me. On her letter, she told about how excited and anxious she was while wrapping the package and also mentioned of wishing to attend the next OOR concert in the future. I met her on our favorite band's fan group in 2018 and since then, we became friends. Not the type of a very deep and close friendship, but we are connected through the same interests on art and music. Anyway, buying from her store is also a way of gratitude because without her I couldn't have gone to the OOR concert last 2018. :)
Of course, I also left a review of the items I bought from her on Shopee to help boost her store's reputation and let the potential and future buyers know that it's a legit store and her items are of good quality.
Her products are honestly of good quality. The pin looks durable and the pin attached on the clay is sturdy and won't seem to come off easily. For the meantime, I will be using the pin as a decor for something I will do in the future. Please watch out for that too! :)
Overall, I believe that she is more than ready to start her sticker and clay pin business. I wish her success on her business. I know it's kind of tough selling such items unlike food and other essentials during the pandemic, so I wish that may she have tons of patience and motivation in her. May she believe that one day, all her efforts for this business would pay off.
(Honestly, I almost started an online business too last December 2019. I was also supposed to sell stickers and pins like her (but with different materials) although I put it on hold due to some reasons. Hopefully, I get enough courage to start it too like her.)
