Thirteen Bangladesh-based export-oriented garment industries have filed a lawsuit against US-based retailer Brand Sears for 5 million, or Tk 425 million. However, the brand owes them more than 38 million in domestic currency, which is equivalent to Rs 308 crore.
It is learned that before Corona, according to the purchase order of Sears, 13 industrial groups exported garments worth 22.7 million. Those goods were in the port of New York in the United States. Clothing worth 11.9 million was lying in the warehouses of the companies. In addition, Sears bought 8.4 million worth of raw materials. Thirteen industrial groups formed a coalition and filed a lawsuit against Sears in the Southern District of New York in September through Sarachek Law Firm for failing to pay for anything. Sears authorities then offered to resolve the matter through out-of-court negotiations.
