Smallsteps and my wife are away on their annual Mummy and Daughter hotel night, where they go into a city hotel with a pool, go to eat somewhere and just hang out together. It is a nice little tradition that Smallsteps really appreciates. And for me, it means I have to look after the dog, and do housework. Not that I "have to" but I kind of have to, if you know what I mean. It isn't all bad though, as it allows me time without distraction to do it.

Puusti is normally an early riser, but when my wife isn't home he tends to sleep a bit longer. He slept til eight this morning, which was welcome as usually I go to bed late and still have to get up relatively early. However, somewhere during the night the mask of my CPAP machine ripped a little and was making an awful noise that kept waking me up. I should have just taken it off, but I tried to power through unsuccessfully. Luckily, I have a spare old and a new one that arrived a week or so ago to replace it, otherwise no one in the house will get any sleep if I am snoring.
Maybe Puusti the dog will get some sleep.

And here he is showing off his new trick, which is getting up on the chair in the entrance to see over the barrier for when we don't want him to go upstairs. The barrier is actually pretty cool, if I do say so myself. I made it out of offcuts and some unused MDF roof panelling, using magnet bars for tools to attach it to the walls either side. It was a bit unwieldy for Smallsteps at first, but she has gotten used to it now. The goal was to have it sturdy enough so he can't push through it, without having to drill anything. The magnets on the walls are held in place with double-sided gorilla tape. Once we can trust him more, we can remove it all without leaving a mark.

But not yet.
Because yesterday my wife made the brilliant call of leaving all their packing on the couch upstairs to be ready for the morning, including Smallsteps' absolute favourite soft toy. Puusti has been quiet for a little while so I went to check on him and while thankfully he had decided to start with Smallsteps pink wired headphones, while "Naksu the dog" lay waiting in fear, next in line.
It was somewhat sad for me, as those headphones were bought before she was born and my wife would use them on occasion to play music into her belly. Still, a now cordless headset was a far better option than having Naksu eaten. It was time she got a new set anyway and I have kept putting it off for a couple years. She doesn't listen to much from her phone, but I bought her a cheap kids bluetooth set from JBL and she was super happy with them, using them in the hotel at night to listen to one of her books.
The luxury.
While I am here about continue the laundry and cleaning.
And Puusti the dog is staring out the window at people walking by in the rainy weather.

He seems to be a lot like our dog Lilly. Well behaved when you are looking. Dennis the Menace when you turn away.
I should break down and buy some wireless headphones one day. But, wired still work for me, so why bother. Never had much luck with wireless earpieces and such anyway.
Yep. I think it has something to do with looking for attention. When not there, he will do something to entertain himself that will get him attention also.
It took me ages to go wireless, but I quite like the buds when at the gym now.
Probably will break down one day and get some ear buds. I think I still have some wirless headphones around here somewhere. May try them again. If I recall, couldn't get them to stay sync'd. Anyway, I do have my hearing aid, it can act as an wireless ear bud as well. Pretty cool actually.
He has the face of a cute little dog, but he also looks quite mischievous, he’s really charming!
I’ve always had wired headphones, but a few years ago my brother gave me a pair of wireless ones, and I find them ideal for walks and for when I’m writing, they help me tune out my surroundings whilst I listen to music. They’re really handy.
Most of the dogs are like that. :)
