Focus Point through a fence and Actifit Report and a surprise visitor

Last night i had a lot on my mind and also in a comment yesterday I tempted fate saying i seldom if ever have any trouble sleeping at night, well yesterday afternoon a few things happened that i guess were stuck n my mind ast night when I went to bed ass I struggled to get to sleep, I think I feel asleep at about 2Am in the morning, when my alarm went off around 4:15 I turned it off and thought I would just lay there for a minute or two before getting up, next thing I knew, my Wife was waking me just after 5, so a late start today missed my normal train which meant I got into the city later than usual and had no time for a before work walk so straight to the office and hence a lower than normal step count today.

This is an actifit post but as is now my new norm I am now starting these posts with a few photos taken with my Sony camera and then will move on to a few shots from the walk I did today.

For this post I am doing something similar to a Post @manorvillemike did here showing the effect of different zoom levels when shooting through a fence, I had taken some shots to show a similar effect and was about to prepare the post when I saw his and was going to put it off for a while but he said to go for it so here it is.

Mine is slightly different from his as what I was changing was not the focal length but the focus point.

This first shot the focus was on the fence well maybe a little short of the fence so I got a cool bokeh effect on the background to the fence, its hard to tell in this shot what is actually behind the fence.

1 focus point and a fence2.jpg

If you look at the settings for this second shot you can see there all about the same but i was using manual focus, as autofocus would most likely have just picked up on the fence and not got the effects I wanted to show in this post

For this shot the focus is more on the fence and slightly behind it and you can see the shapes of the cards which are creating the bokeh ( round circles of light)

And for this last shot my focus point is on the FDR Highway as seen through the fence on a walkway over the FDR in a park near 50th Street and as you can see the fence has all but disappeared in this shot, but I promise you this was shot from the same point as the others just with a different focal point,
The zoom is slightly different at 105mm, not 112 as for the others but its the point I was focusing on that made all the difference

Now I will share a few shots taken today with my iPhone showing my walk today

Following on from the which had vehicles in it, I happened to get shots of some bikes around the city , starting with this motorbike

And a Bicycle, I wonder if someone stole the seat of the owner takes it into his workplace so no one steals the bike

This next bike has a seat at least but it looks like some vehicle drove over his rear wheel so the owner wont be happy when he comes out planning to ride home

Now if you don't have a Bicycle and yet still want to ride around the city you can hire one of these CitiBikes, they have stands for them all over Manhattan, and you can hire from one location and drop it off in another

And a last Bike shot, this one i have seen a few times around the city, and you can hear it coming from a long way off the rider of it, clearly loves loud music and has it basting when he is riding around town

For those that made it all the way down to this point of my post, thanks, and when I was walking out of the building to head to another building for a meeting this morning I was surprised to see a visitor in gardens

I think this may be the same one I saw a few weeks ago and shared shots of recently i this post, I had my bag with me and my camera so I got a few shots of it to share in a future post

I have no idea how I got up to 14 steps today when I didn’t do a walk before work I was quite surprised to see the total just now

And that’s all folks

Thanks always nice to get rewarded for activity :)

Wow being a motorbike enthusiast I loved the bike...Not the color though. All your photos are amazing.

Thanks I used to be into motorbikes myself but most of mine were off-road but I do like a nice road bike to see

Sometimes our days just don’t go according to plan! Still, your step count is awesome by most standards. And great work on those images! I also do much mor than a brief report on my steps in my Actifit posts, and am using them more like a daily journal in which I also mention my activity for the day. 😁

Yeah its funny that sometimes our plans go out the window this one was a surprise I thought I would be well under 10K not well over it

I much prefer visiting actifit posts that tell a bit about the day than those who just do the plain post from actifit

That is one strange looking orange trike, i wonder what brand it is.

Posted using Partiko Android

If I see it again I will try and have a closer look, and see what brand it is, I see it on the streets often, this is the first time I saw it parked there, but maybe he parks there often I will swing by and check

Cool trick with the focus. I used that at auto races when I have to shoot through a fence.

It is a cool trick which I wasn't sure some may have known about so I decided to come up with this to start the post

As a bicycler myself, I do appreciate the cool and varied bike photos.

Its been years since I road a bike I may get one when I retire,

Love those first two! You might have guessed : )

I have to admit it was seeing one of your posts that gave me the idea for those first couple of shots

I shoot a lot through chain link! It's really fun getting the circle shapes. :) Twisting the focus really changes the image.

Ohh yeah its something i dont do often but perhaps i should :)

I like it when there are multiple layers to shoot through. There's often a spot where it looks really nice.

Yes indeed I know you do that so well

Nice visitor in garden and other photos in the city.

thanks Kindly it was such a buzz to see the hawk again :)

lol! I also wonder if someone was a jerk and stole that poor dude's bike seat!

Your pictures always make me want to go back to NYC. I'm hoping to do an overnight trip in December. I love NY.

Wouldnt that be so annoying if you came out from work and found your bicycle seat stolen, would for sure spoil your day

I have to admit that when I was first dragged kicking and screaming to work in NYC from the field I dreaded the idea and insisted it would be for just one year, but i have been here over 15 years now and it has grown on me, I do still see it as a concrete jungle, but I do love all the things I can find on walks here

Fate showed you who was boss

indeed fate did smile on me today I must say :)

What a great walk my friend.

Those fence photos are really nice. The blurry background make it look great.

Greetings.

Thanks kindly Have a great night

14,000 steps and how sad is that? That is some people's weeks, superman. I loved @manorvillemike Mikes shots yesterday and I guess I am a sucker for that kind of photography, I loved yours too.

Always love the softness the bokeh gives off.

It is hazardous to ride your bike and leave it unattended. Obviously. So cool to find a city-dwelling hawk.

!tip

LOL I have no idea how I did 14k steps today with no walk before work and I don't feel I walked much today but clearly I did LOL, but the good news my knee is feeling pretty much back to normal or as normal as it ever is LOL

I was quite pleased with the bokeh the lens I was using isnt renowned for bokeh normally

the hawk was indeed a nice surprise

🎁 Hi @tattoodjay! You have received 0.1 STEEM tip from @dswigle!

@dswigle wrote lately about: Tree Tuesday Forks Over The Day Feel free to follow @dswigle if you like it :)

Sending tips with @tipU - how to guide :)

thanks again Aunt Tippy

Yay ! You got my 100% Upvote, which is now worth 1 cent! It was 2 cents before. I hope you won't miss the penny too much. LOL!

Interesting shots. I love those city bikes. My son and I used a similar app in Budapest. It was fun. Love that bird at the end. Is he a falcon?

Well I think if I understand it correctly your vote is still worth 2 cents, just now I don't get it all half of it goes to those that vote on my post including to you :) but that said thanks so much for the vote :)

I think someone said its a red Shouldered Hawk, but I am not that clever with bird names so I just call it a hawk LOL

Didn’t look like 2 cents when I Upvoted. Your kitty went up by just a penny. 🤷‍♀️🤣

It’s a very beautiful bird. It has gorgeous markings, and you caught him well.

Ok maybe your right I never really look much at the returns on post specifically but maybe I should be paying more attention
I was so fortunate to see it again in the gardens

Nice pictures! I feel sorry for the guy with the orange bike...compensating for something?! :) The first couple of photos didnt render (at least on actifit.io)...I'll see if they came out on SteemPeak.

LMAO about they guy with the bike compensating
Not sure why the first two shots aren’t showing for you they do for me but I will check this evening maybe the file size is to large

Thanks for the support

They rendered on SteemPeak...night be an .io issue.

Some days just don’t start off as we planned but you did a great job of walking and photographing. The hawk was even waiting to have his picture taken. 😊
I had to chuckle at the bike with no seat. That could be a rough ride if you forgot and tried to sit down.

That’s so true it was kind of weird yesterday I felt like I had a quiet day walking but did more than I did on other days when I feel I have walked plenty
I was so fortunate to catch the hawk
And ouch I don’t want to even thinking about riding the bike and forgetting it didn’t have a seat lol 😂

Haha, am glad I did make it all the way down.... I always do, on your posts anyway... :) I think the experiment you did with the fence and the background is so cool... I love how the cars slowly came into focus, shot by shot! We have some fancy bikes like that orange noisy one, but not as fanciful... only as noisy! Lol... Fancy seeing that visitor in the city... wow! Great shot! :)

Thanks so much nice to know at least you and a few others make it through all of my post I was so fortunate to see the hawk for sure 😎
There are a few noisy bikes here but from what I remember even 30 years ago even more of them there with you

Nice bokeh! lo Oh, and that last bike is crazy looking. Too bad about the loud music, though. Everyone's taste in music is a little different and people that broadcast like that can be really annoying.

I was pleasantly surprised with the bikes from that lens it’s a zoom 24-240 and not one you expect much of a bokeh from
I to get frustrated by people blasting music on the streets but in this case at least it was a genre of music I do like lol 😂

One of my son's friend rides a bike everywhere, he removes his bike seat when he locks his bike up. The reason being is it is a very expensive seat and it makes his bike less that they will steal his bike.

That makes a lot of sense to take the seat off to reduce the chance of it being stolen

I knew, that you can make a fence disappear that way, but I have never tried it :)
You showed us some great examples, how this works - Steemit should be advertised as a great educational network :)

I hope, everything is fine by now or getting better - I mean, you have made 14,000 steps ... I could worry now or clap my hands to applaude you ;)

That orange bike looks cool, but I would never sit on it - I like the black stealth mode ;)

I wish you a great day my friend 😊

I have no idea how I did that many steps yesterday it really seemed to me I had done well under 10k
But it’s all good my knee is back to normal now
Ohh yeah that bike is far to bright and noticeable it’s not one I would want either

Your knee is better and you had fun being able to walk again. I can imagine, that you didn't notice how far you have gone :)

My wife decided yesterday, that we take the day off today and drive to the lake Bled in Slovenia.
This is the small lake, from where I have posted quite a few images in the past months with the church on the island. Man, there were so many people all around, but not as many as I have seen there when I was there last Summer. So it was not that bad ;)
We have been at the castle, which is on the rock over the lake, but I had not many chances for nice photos, because I hate it, when people walk into my photos. So, if any of the photos are OK I will post these tourist snapshots with a castle and other views in the background ;) lol

Yes it was a good day even after a bad nights sleep LOL

Lake Bled rings a bell to me I may have visited there nice, but am not totally sure i know i did spend.a few days in Slovenia a long time back but cannot remember all the places I went to

Even with all te people I am sure it was good to get out Nd about for the day with your wife, I am sure even your touristy shots will be great :)

Have you been at a Casino in Slovenia? Then you have been in Bled ;)

It was good to have the day with my wife, that's right, and we have had a nice walk up to the castle and then around the lake.
The weather was a bit overcast and hazy, so I don't expect too much ... just snapshots...

Then that must have been the place I think visiting the casino is wat made us decide to have a few days there

Thats a gorgeous view and even if you didnt get any greta shots at least you two had a good day :)

Right, we have had a good day together and the photos are not that important :)
Since the children were born, we have done little together and the children are now 17 years old ;)

I've got some fence shots like that! Mine were in Central Park though! Hopefully you have a better start to your day today!

I haven’t done this in Central Park but its a cool idea I must look for when in the park next
A lot better today got a goodnight s sleep so all is good in the world, just went for a shot walk before work, as it is overcast and rain is coming and my joints let me know its not to far away LOL, BUt got in 3K steps before work so not a bad start to the day

I just love your photography @tattoodjay, amazing what a difference the zoom settings made. I remember that Goshawk you shared with us a while back, it's quite amazing that they're found in a built up area, a lovely sight though!

Thanks so kind of you,
I am ow wondering if it is settles in the trees in the gardens as I saw it again this morning

What a great actifit post.

Something very American feeling about a picture of blurry tail lights through a mesh fence.
