Just released a new update to usesteem.com to show top 1,000 payouts the last 30 days You can search by username, and sort by rank, author, or payout.
The data updates at least once a day (currently twice a day).
There is also a replacement for Steem Whales if you haven't seen it yet. Fully searchable and sortable and also has the top 1,000 accounts.

Both are available at usesteem.com with more functionality being developed.

Updated the urls
usesteem.comto be hyperlinked.Good work @themarkymark. Top authors by payout is pretty disturbing. Take number 5, @determine, this account has just 26 followers. Appears to be buying votes on Day 3. Number 3, @triptolemus, only has 980 followers. Same thing with the late upvotes. Looks these 2 accounts are good pals too.
detemine has hardly any human replies. That seems a very cynical use of Steem. He's got a high rep with practically no community support. I left him a comment. Let's see if he responds.
When I used flag and tell him what I thought he never respoded so good luck with that mate. I thinkmtheybhave no interest at all in communitynor engagement and simply come to make as much cash as possible. Shame the 'system' supports this sort of behaviour.

As Steemit don't care it's up to the community to deal with this. It's in the white paper that uses should curate posts to adjust rewards down as well as up. If we make it less profitable then they may give up. The problem is that some of them retaliate. The vote sellers just get more powerful, although some do operate blacklists.
Sad to see certain people consistently buying massive votes just to stay on trending. Some of them have huge followings and can make a good amount from real votes. The real winners are those selling the votes and I opt to not support them. Okay, so I delegate to one very small 'bid bot' that supports runners, but I don't buy votes on specific posts. I don't self vote either as I need my VP to support others and deal with abuse.
I think the trending page gives a wrong and harmful impression of what Steem is to new users. They expect to make as much and they will see buying votes as the way to do that rather than actually engaging with others and building communities.
So, who dares to flag these 'top' accounts?
I just checked and it seems I'm not in the top 1000 :(
There is a lot of pollution in the list, bought votes. If you read those posts and see the comments those are mostly from people who wants a piece of the pie in one way or another but eventually wont get any.... I think for Steem and Steemit it will do more then good if there is some mechanism to stop that missusage of bots and other selfenriching ways...
You'll see many of those people get hardly any comments, so buying votes cannot be said to really promote your post unless you get onto trending. I don't think they make much profit. It takes work to build a following, but some are not prepared to do that
Those top numbers are pretty shocking! I had no idea people were still getting paid that much!
Some yes, some no. What isn't factored in, because it's a pain in the arse are the paid votes. Also, folks like to spread their votes and accounts out, so 'people' <> accounts :)
True. If someone paid $1,000 to reach the $1,050 position, all we really have is volatility. But it's still good information. It's a measure of engagement.
Even with those factors considered, I'm still surprised...and jealous. ;P
Many of the top 10 for nothing more than shitposting....
I don't see why you've chosen only the top 10 for this statement!
Lol, I was feeling in a generous mood tonight....I just actually looked down the whole top 1000 and it suddenly hit home how screwed up this chain is right now. I started drawing connections and links between many of the top players....horrendous!
Many of them are the same user, just not easy display that.
yes mate, I sometimes drop a forlorn flag on tripto, determine and the gang.

It would be interesting to see, if possible, the difference between Steem returned via Author payouts, and the Steem used to purchase votes. I think the list would probably be a bit different -- not entirely different, but probably not negligibly either.
I am adding a column for paid votes, but it isn't ready yet
Ah right on -- I figured you'd probably be putting some thought into it. Not quite as straightforward as just pulling author rewards for the last month. Should be pretty insightful when it's ready -- looking forward to it.
It would be very different. I think @pinkspectre followed by @traf. Most of @traf's stuff is self-voted crap. I think he and @kevinwong are protesting about our broken ecosystem. So they are both abusing it to make a point.
This is kinda depressing

This is the type of oversight information we need.
Really interesting to look through this list and see how few people I actually recognize. Unfortunately, it's even more interesting to look through for people I know put out good content and then see how low they are on the list. Really makes ya think about whether the best creators are getting rewarded on this site.
Nicely done :D. I like looking at this list.
