I am writing this post in response to @snook's A Snookmademedoit Challenge introducing her new community Snook Made Me Do It.
"Have you ever read a Steemians post and wonder how in the world they ended up on the Steem Blockchain? What brought them here? Why are they still here? Did they have an easy time when they walked in the great front door of the future?"
"I think we all have more in common about why we have stayed on the Steem blockchain. I would love to hear your Steem story. What I would also love to hear is why with all the hardforks, learning, and struggles you made it on Steem as of today."

How did I get here?
I was part of a Discord for Ethereum Miners and one people I talked a lot with I believe mentioned it to me. I have participated in Steem every day since then. I have since quit mining Ethereum and haven't been around there in a couple of years. Steem has managed to take the majority of my free time.
I remember the early days of Steem I used to joke that my posts would just go into a black hole. No one cared what I wrote or who I was. It took time to make a name for myself and get the attention of others. I remember when the people I talk to on a regular basis were celebrities to me and I felt they would never give me the time of day, today many of them are my friends.
When I first got here, I made it a goal to try to post on a daily basis. To this day, I have managed to stick to this fairly well, although lately I have been finding it harder.
Why am I still here?
I love Steem and the challenges that come with it. I have put a lot of time and money into Steem and I want to see where we can go. I believe we have the potential to do something amazing if we can focus on growth and find new uses for Steem and get past the petty squabbles.
I enjoy the challenges and opportunities Steem presents. I have enjoyed building different projects on Steem, some of them very useful and some of them more of a novelty.
I have met a lot of people here, I have a very mixed reputation here as I spent a large portion of time fighting abuse. Those who know me, know I put a lot of time and care into Steem and am always trying to make Steem better than when I got here. It is hard to avoid the endless drama that comes with fighting abuse as an individual and is a very trying experience to keep a positive outlook and continue. I always try to be very active and present in the community.
It wasn't asked in her original post, but I am nominating a few other Steemians to make their own post as well.

I never knew how you found steem.
I think many of us felt the same about our post being lost and no one caring, but a few years later, persistence and consistency has made you a leading member of the community. Awesome!!!!

I personally have used a number of your tools and always look forward to your podcasts/shows. They are very educational and I always learn something new!
Controversial? That could be said to be an understatement, but you are indeed a valued contributor to this platform as far as I am concerned! Haters gonna hate.
I don't do as much as this as you, but I know what you mean. If everybody let it go I feel it would be much worse than it already is.
How many are we responsible for leaving the block-chain? The answer is lots but they are the wrong people.
When someone screams they are rage quitting it's nearly always good.., I don't try and persuade them to stay anymore like I used too.
They always know they being shitheads and I glad to see the back of them.
STEEM is the only place left for mannequins like me, haha.
I should do a post too... I'm still here after 2 and a half years.

Came for the rewards, stayed for the community as @shadowspub says. Whatever brought us all together, the actual perpetual growth of the Steem Blockchain keeps us here with the ever growing range of DAPPS, built on #STEEM games like @steemmonsters and the fact it has human friendly account names and lightening fast transactions - transfer thousands of steem in seconds what other blockchains boast that I wonder.
I also wonder what's up with tiny cheese downvoting the comments of my friends @sgt-dan, @snook and @paulag - that's not cool at all. Good job I know a guardian of the galaxy to fix such bobbins. Stay cool !COFFEEA 15

So, you say "I love steem" but I've personally wondered more than once what in particular YOU love about it. Can you detail tha ta little more?

I love the community here, both the good an the bad. I have made many friends here and the bad, well it's great source material for memes.
I find the challenges fascinating, both technological and social.
I don't worry about price as I am not selling Steem. It would be nice if we could get a nice spike so I can pay off the expenses that have been stacking up, but I said when I first got here, I am long term.
I really am fascinated to see where it goes, will we make it against all the odds or just fade away into the history books. I'm really rooting for the last man stand scenario for crypto based social media platforms.
I'd be a bit crazy if I put the time and effort into Steem that I do and I didn't love it. Don't you think?
oh, I don't doubt you love it. I just never understood you enough to figure out what aspects you do love. This helps me. Sorry if the comment seemed to imply anything else. I don't doubt the conviction. I generally think there isn't an infinite combination, but 3-5 main drivers. It makes me wonder what drives the other hardcores, which is a team I'd put you in. How do we get more folks like me and you who go balls deep into this place?

Give them the tools to build and a community to appreciate it.
Right now there are 4-5 Steem frameworks, they are all virtually abandon-ware that I am not even sure I could consider them minimum viable product.
When I first got here, there was almost no documentation and no one gave me the time of day to answer anything. We are a little further ahead, but not by far.
Thanks for all you do here man. I see what happening, I’m here everyday just like you and many times I have felt the same way and often still do. I just keep plugging along trying to help Steem in my own way, hopefully we will be right and highly rewarded someday.
I was search a erc20 token tutorial in the internet and i found one article about token creation but that article in steemit and i search the steemit in the internet i learned more information about steem. Till now i am learning new steem information in everyday.
We all start from somewhere you just need to find the right friends and gain more knowledge. I started when I was 16 now I'm 18 and still growing my steemit career.

I have to admire that you stick with it when you get more abuse than anyone else here for sticking to your principles. I would find that hard to deal with.
