With the melting of the snow, I regularly go on mountain hikes. This year, spring was a little late, so I go to the mountains with more excitement, eagerness, and desire. Especially on weekends, the areas I go to, such as Karataş and Duav Plateau, are flooded with people. Some come to satisfy their longing for the mountains, some to harvest beets, and others to have picnics.
Karların erimesi ile birlikte dağ yürüyüşlerini düzenli şekilde yapıyorum. Bu yıl ilkbahar biraz geciktiği için dağlara daha heyecanlı , arzulu, istekli şekilde gidiyorum. My friend and I left home at 11:30 AM. We drove about 2-3 km, then started climbing the mountain. Our goal was to collect a sour-tasting plant called "uçkun," which is peeled and eaten. Since there had been people who had been there before us, they had collected the best, ripest uçkun. We were able to collect the remaining uçkun, the ones hidden among the grass. As you can see in the photo, the valley is huge. A stream runs through it. The stream's flow is very high right now. In the summer months, the stream's flow is quite low. This year there was a lot of rain, but not enough sunshine. Therefore, the grass hasn't grown sufficiently.
Arkadaşım ile birlikte saat 11:30'da evden yola çıktık. Yaklaşık 2-3 km mesafeyi araba ile gittik. Sonrasında dağı tırmanmaya başladık. Amacımız ''uçkun'' adı verilen ekşimtrak , soyulup yenilen bitkiyi toplamaktı. Gittiğimiz bölgede bizden önce giden insanlar olduğu için en güzel, en olgunlaşan olan uçkunları toplamışlardı. Yaz aylarında derenin debisi oldukça düşüyor. Bu yıl yağış çok fazla oldu ancak güneş yeterince yoktu. Bu yüzden otların yeterince büyümemiş.
The mountain pictured is called "Karataş". It gets its name because its summit is covered with black stones.

The snow in the valley is melting rapidly. The water has split the snowdrift in two.

And we're in an area where wild garlic grows. The wild garlic is visible among the large leaves. Sometimes you have to look between the leaves to see it. Generally, the most beautiful wild garlic is observed among the leaves. According to research, wild garlic is quite beneficial for diabetes. Because it grows quite far from settlements and its harvest season is very short, its price is quite high. While it was 750 TL (16.5$) per kilo in the early days, it is now sold for around 500 TL in the markets. Those who go and collect it gather about 40-50 kg, and if they can sell it all in the markets, they earn a good amount of money daily. This was the Karataş region. After this, we moved on to Duav Plateau. I will share a post about that soon.
