HIVE/BTC Gets Delisted On Binance

in LeoFinance2 months ago (edited)

Just noticed on TradingView

Don't think there was any news article about this and I just noticed because my treasured HIVEUSD and HIVEBTC pair got deleted on Tradingview. The HIVEUSD pair was really "cool" because it had all the data since Hive's inception. Other charts start some months later so I always liked it. Unfortunately I had a lot of drawings on the chart that are now lost, although I guess I can get them somewhat back from my own screenshots.

Apparently this is due to the delisting of HIVEBTC on Binance. This isn't all too tragic since there was hardly any volume on that pair and HIVE was essentially down by like 99%+ so it became meaningless...

Not sure if this is anything to "worry" about as it might signal the delisting of HIVE on Binance? Again, this is just speculation on my part, I haven't read anything that would point in that direction. Losing the pair on Binance is of course nothing to celebrate, but I wonder if it would be a bigger problem since HIVE is trying to spread into DeFi anyway. In the past, Binance was essentially No KYC, but since those times are over, we have many alternatives to trade Hive on CEXs. The only bigger problem I would see is that Binance is the second largest holder of HIVE and we were just starting to see a shift away from Upbit. Could that lead to more centralization again?

I haven't really heard much from @magi.network anymore. But Hive definitely needs to get into DeFi.

Yeah, I understand why Binance delisted this pair...

As a general reminder: Please keep in mind that none of this is official investment advice! Crypto trading entails a great deal of risk; never spend money that you can't afford to lose!

Hey. You mentioned you havent heard from Magi last month, then after you commented on our update post where you, by definition, hear from us, now again you say, youre not hearing from Magi.

Im not sure what you mean by "hear" at this point.

Anyways... stay tuned for an update this coming week.

Yeah you are absolutely right, I guess I meant it in the sense that we (or I?) haven't seen the big announcements like last year anymore. I feel there was some momentum that we might have lost after the 11/11 delay, but looking forward to the updates soon!

No worries, wer here, we are building. Next week is very important for us.

Really bad news for us, this is starting to be dangerous

It's a bad signal but I'm not reading to much into it because it was probably a long time coming. That pair had very little volume. HIVE price didn't react to the news either. I'm guessing most people didn't notice 😅

As you said, the real problem is if Binance decides to sell all its Hive and also close USDT/HIVE although I don't think it will happen. But imagine that an account like binance sells everything in one fell swoop (also a very unlikely move) but what would happen... And then how much money on trades would you lose, also this magic defi I haven't yet understood what it's for, it seems like a site where the user can't interact, believe me...

Apparently you can still swap BTC & HIVE on Binance (trade must go via USDT).

While a fully DEX world is ideal, we are not there yet.

When I can swap HIVE & BTC on PeakD using Magi or something like it I won't mind CEX's dropping us.
Until then it is not good.

indeed! interesting that the pair is still open. It seems gone for me

I am not big on ignoring things that are bad signals. To me this would be a bad signal.

On the other hand, I was surprised Binance even had the HIVE:BTC pair in the first place. I’m guessing they were losing money just having that pair available because the volume was so low.

Centralized Exchanges are under a lot of pressure too. They make less money because it has become so competitive and there are a lot more regulations now they have to adhere too.

The HIVE:BTC pair was the only HIVE pair removed but it is not the only thing they removed on 2/13. So it’s probably them just trying to clean up their operations. https://www.binance.com/en/support/announcement/detail/d2c0b9f4c1e94260b04be48036522cfe

More Defi is the future imo. I think the more HIVE can get on DEXs or similar types of “Decentralized” solutions, the better off we will be longterm.

they give a one day heads up notice :D

Apparently 🤣🤣🤣🤣
