Bubblegum flavoured broccoli

in #information5 years ago

What a weird month, as again our data was finished, klaar, kaput almost 2 weeks before the end of the month, and this time we were not checking out YouTube like teenagers!

We could well feel the loss of the data stream as articles were no longer posted and teh time we spent on that, work elements were tougher due to using the phone data, mother in law lost her communications tool and getting online items printed and emailed suddenly became more difficult.

Looking a little deeper I saw that it was NOT in fact any person that was destroying the almost 200GB of data, but in fact Microsoft themselves!
Yep, a repeatedly failed update that was eating away at 5GB an attempt. That is completely rediculous of course, that the largest software company in the world needs to download the same update repeatedly in order to try update a system?!?!

It has already downloaded it 30 times, why not just use the same download to attempt the update again....so stupid.

So we are 'back online' as the new month starts, and I have some USELESS INFORMATION for you :).

Bubblegum flavoured broccoli

This sounds crazy, but its 100% true. As one of the largest fast food outlets worldwide, McDonalds somehow thought that they had the answer to how to get kids to eat more healthily (which is funny because of who this is coming from).

They believed if they made a broccoli that tasted like bubblegum then the kids would be keen and willing to get mom and dad to buy these funky green trees for them.
I don't know who they have on their test teams, but come on now!!! As a parent to a few kids, I can tell you right off the bat what the response was to be!

Of course they failed miserably, and all the test subjects showed a negative interest in the manipulated broccoli....surprise surprise!
I mean, if the item is on the menu, would you as a parent choose that for the kid? Seeing that you brought them to a fast food restaurant you would be ok with them having a burger anyway.

Also what kid in their right mind is going to say, hmmmm I will take the broccoli over the Big Mac Burger with large fries? None that I know....

Apparently, McD is the largest seller of salads out of ALL American restaurants (another shocker!), so they thought this was the next step forward for them.

Number of McD in USA

I was just wondering about how the kids would then react to normal salad in their homes, when mom puts out some greens and says tho their kid to eat it because its good for you, and the kid says the food is off because its not sweet and yummy like McDonalds salad.....could have been a tough one for parents to fight LOL.

Each to their own, but I lost faith in McD's and their poison a long time ago, so this would not have bothered me much, but it is funny to think that this was an actual real world thing..

Did you know?

That there are countries that have banned McD's from their shores? Yup, for reasons ranging from political, economic collapse and even 'superstitious Golden arches' issues, the restaurant which is at every street corner in the world (just about) is banned in these 9 countries.

  1. Bermuda
  2. Iran
  3. Macedonia
  4. Yemen
  5. Montenegro
  6. North Korea
  7. Zimbabwe
  8. Bolivia
  9. Iceland

Personally our family will not eat at McD's although we ate there quite a lot before deciding on trying to remove a lot bad food from our diets.
This and other Fast Food restaurants are just really bad for our health. I think teaching our kids that it is a reward to take them to eat there is programming them to look forward to it, and it becomes a big reward to them.
We are creating serious issues for them down the line.

I'm glad to be back, and hope you all have an awesome day!

Cheers
