I'm back with another contribution to the Feathered Friday tag that @melinda010100 has kept flying on the Steem blockchain. This week, I'm swooping in with 12 Mourning Dove photos, all taken in our Durham NH yard between March 2016 and May 2017.
I picked the doves today because while I was outside with Sandy this morning, I heard one calling near us in the yard, and it occurred to me I haven't taken any pictures of them in forever. So I thought sharing some of my older shots for this post would be the next best thing.
They seemed an extra perfect choice when I searched out the spiritual significance of these feather friends. According to a post by Free Spirit Meg -
They are a symbol of feminine energies, motherhood and nurturing. They feed from the ground showing us to stay connected with Mother Earth. The dove is a messenger from a higher power. You can hear their call more often at dusk and dawn. This is when the veil between the physical realm and spiritual realm is the thinnest. They bring a message of love and peace. It is time to put your mind to rest and remember to love yourself and others.
The mourning dove is a symbol of new birth. Remember your creator, your Mother. Her energy can help create a new life. A new you! The mourning dove can guide you down a fresh path. No matter what burdens our past we must “mourn” and move forward towards a brighter future. A future full of compassion and comfort. Native Americans use to listen for the mourning dove, knowing it would bring them to water. Be at ease and let the water carry you to a new adventure.
If the mourning dove has flown across your path today, it brings peace and hope. Let go of what has passed and make room for more love. Connect with nature to take advantage of the nurturing energies she provides. This will give you a regenerative boost in the right direction. Fret not and let the waters gently carry you to your next chapter.
Last thing before I get started with my shots, don't forget to check out the post Melinda did this week called Feathered Friday--Cormorants. She has some wicked cool captures of those awesome fishing birds!
Now, here are my 12 Mourning Dove Feathered Friday Fotos!

BONUS PICTURE - I also wanted to include this one, even though it's just a feather and not an actual bird.
Back in September 2016, I walked outside, and as soon as I rounded the corner of the house, I saw this single Mourning Dove feather sticking up out of the ground. It was a beautiful gift from the Universe that particular day!
Happy Feathered Friday!

Those are beautiful. I love their coos too.
We have lots of these. Hadn't realised the symbolism. Had a pair cooing away on our roof last Sunday

You always take such beautiful photos! I hope you have a lovely weekend! :)
Fluffy feathered friends! Sometimes I get amazed (?) at myself for not knowing that birds are actually cute and fluffy... (for some reason they always give me the visual impression of being...not fluffy but "boney", not sure how to actually explain that but yeah).
Never knew the symbolism as well, TIL! :)
Howdy traciyork! Tremendous job, I've never seen so many great dove pictures at one time! And I learned what a Pitying was. lol.
There's so many types of them, all are vibrant!
