Snowy Blue Jay from December 17th, 2016

in #steemitbloggers5 years ago

Today's dip into the archives comes from a bunch of photos I took during a snow storm on December 17th, 2016. Because I had the feeder only a few feet away from our bedroom window (as opposed to being at the edge of the woods in our yard during the warmer months) I was able to get some good shots of the snow landing on the birds braving the elements for some seed.

I used a different shot of this same bird for a photo calendar I created for 2017, because I thought this shot didn't have enough color/interest to it, and you couldn't clearly tell it was a Blue Jay since his face was turned away. Now seeing it all this time later, and I think I actually prefer it...LOL! I've included both here - what do you think?

Nice shot, we don't have these birds here in Germany.

Thanks so much, @ikarus56!

Oooh, that's a tough call which one I enjoy more! They are both so lovely with the fluffy white snow all around. I love seeing the definition in all the colors of the wings in the second, but the first has those cute little feet in full view. It's a toss-up for me. I'm glad you shared them both here. :)

Aww, thanks so much @plantstoplanks! I wicked appreciate your kind words! 😊

He is just beautiful! His colour blended in so nicely with the background.
