Tonight brings a Super Blood Wolf Moon in Leo with an Eclipse. When it arrives here in New Hampshire, we'll have mostly cloud covered skies and the temps will be around 7F/-14C (but the real feel is supposed to be somewhere around -10F/-23.5C) so the chances of me wandering our yard with my camera aren't looking too great. To find the exact time it arrives in your location, check this link, or your favorite moon phase website/app.
Here's my short-and-simple-as-possible breakdown of what it all means...
Super Moon/Supermoon
Here's an excellent explanation, from the EarthSky website -
A supermoon is a new or full moon closely coinciding with perigee, the moon’s closest point to Earth in its monthly orbit.According to the original definition of supermoon – coined by Richard Nolle in 1979 – a full moon or new moon has to come within 90 percent of its closest approach to Earth to be dubbed a supermoon. In other words, any full moon or new moon that comes to within 224,775 miles or 361,740 km (or less) of our planet, as measured from the centers of the moon and Earth, is a supermoon.
This year, in 2019, the moon at its closest point to Earth resides 221,681 miles (356,761 km) away. At this juncture, the moon is said to be at 100 percent of its closest approach for the year.
Astrologically speaking, I've found that Supermoons are a great time to perform spells that need a little extra power.
Blood Moon and the eclipse
Every year, October's full moon is called "The Blood Moon" but this is something different, and related to the lunar eclipse. It comes from the reddish hue that happens during the process known (in my case, thanks to Google) as Rayleigh scattering.
A lunar eclipse in general is great for working spells to do with abundance, power, fertility, removing blocks, and psychic abilities, and a full lunar eclipse is extremely powerful.
Wolf Moon

Amid the cold and deep snows of midwinter, the howling of wolves could be heard in the cold winter nights outside Indian villages. Thus, the name for January’s full moon, the Full Wolf Moon.
Full Moon in Leo

I was thinking about waking up to see this... although, in Europe it is an awkward time (around 4 or something like that in the morning). I'll think about it, but if I know myself, I won't be able to do it!

We had a beautiful clear evening - warm - but no eclipse in our part of the world. What does that mean?
Does being in the Southern Hemisphere have an impact on the readings? #justwondering....

Depends on your school of thought, @fionasfavourites - some who practice moon magic feel that you need to be within view of the eclipse, but others (like myself) feel that the energy is there regardless of where you are in relationship to it. And wowsers - our weather is totally yin yang on the Fahrenheit scale, with us having been at almost zero and yours coming close to one hundred! Hope you're staying cool!
That is interesting. I think, in a way, because the world has shrunk because of electronic communications and social media, the energy is felt more broadly, so I think you are right.
On the weather - mercifully it hasn't been quite so hot over the last day or so and the nights quite cool!

I wish I made it for the view… However, it was cloudy in our region and I slept through it… I did catch the super blood moon in the fall of 2015 though. It was awesome!

Yes, it was. :) Actually, my girlfriend back then was a witch, so she got together with her other witch friends and they did a little ritual that night that I was fortunate to witness. So I've got a cool memory out of it. :D
Okay, so that's beyond wicked coolness, @oleg326756! I'm jealous too - I haven't done a ritual with my witch friends in forever! Although my hubby & kids came outside with my while I took pictures, which was pretty magical in and of itself. 😊
I was hoping to get to see it but unfortunately it was cloudy here in California as well. Those spells sound like fun. I should probably try that Spell of Good Fortune. I'm a rockhound so I have some malachite and a ton of quartz crystals I could use!
