I think Americans, especially from the south, have the right to wave the confederate flag if they so choose...but holding the swastika and Nazi flag is out of your mind. You are drawing the wrath of all Americans if you do so.
(Though, to be fair, Confederate generals said that southerns should put away their confederate flags after the civil war was lost...and they would probably know better than I do.)
BTW - just because you voted for Trump doesn't make you an alt-right. Here's a great comment and reply I saw on Reddit, both highly upvoted:
So let me get this straight. I voted for Donald Trump, ok? So everyone calls me "alt-right." Now everything alt right represents nazis and white power? There were klansman, nazis, and white supremacist well before this "alt right" movement.
The reply:
Let me start off by saying I probably totally disagree with your beliefs and values. I'm about as liberal as they come. I support things like single payer healthcare and free college education. Let me also say that the values you and I disagree on do not make either of us bad people. You are not a white supremacist. You don't advocate genocide or some bullshit notion of purity. You're an American, just like me. The differences we have are civil and fundamental to the democratic process. Right now, your ideas are prevailing in our government and we get to see how they work out. I'm going to do what I can to change things such that my ideals are in power. However, there are core beliefs that we likely share: Democracy, freedom, prosperity, and individualism. This is the difference between us and Nazis. Right now, it is important that you, I, and other Americans come together to condemn these supremacist groups that have become recently emboldened. The differences between us are eclipsed by the differences we share with these evil groups. They think they can draw out closeted supporters and scare away people who don't agree. They use weapons and armor at their rallies to strike fear into those around them. We need to fight back, together as Americans, to show they have no place in our society. We may disagree with each other, but neither of us serve to undermine the essence of what it means to be an American. Do not feel that because of our differences in policy that we work towards different goals. We both want a better America; Those nazis want a "purified" and fascist America.
Either way, I thought this is a great image. Enjoy.
