welcome to the eighteenth part of our tour of the Island of Corsica.

willkommen zum achtzehnten Teil unserer Rundreise über die Insel Korsika.
The day after the long excursion to the city of Bonifacio we drove a small circuit through the surroundings of Propriano - a port town on the west coast of Corsica.
Am Tag nach dem langen Ausflug zur Stadt Bonifacio fuhren wir eine kleine Runde durch das Hinterland der Hafenstadt Propriano an der Westküste Korsikas.
Wir fuhren von Propriano nach Norden in die Berge, wo wir zunächst an der Ortschaft Olmeto vorbeikamen.

The village is high up in the mountains on the south side, from where you have a good view over the Bay of Propiano
Das Dorf befindet sich hoch oben in den Bergen an einem Südhang, von dem man einen guten Ausblick über die Bucht von Propiano hat.
From Olmeto we drove on a narrow road eastwards further into the mountains.
Von Olmeto aus fuhren wir auf einer schmalen Straße weiter in östlicher Richting in die Berge.
From here you also have a wonderful view over the Bay of Propriano.
Von hier oben hat man ebenfalls einen wunderbaren Blick über die Bucht von Propriano.
Nevertheless, do not enjoy the view too often on these winding roads, otherwise you quickly get off the road.
Dennoch sollte man auf den kurvigen Straßen nicht zusehr die Aussicht geniessen, sonst kommt man schnell von der Straße ab.
Then we headed south again to the valley, where we crossed the village of Fozzano.
Danach fuhren wir wieder Richtung Süden hinab ins Tal, wo wir an der Ortschaft Fozzano vorbeikamen.
A few kilometers further south lies the village of Arbellara with its distinctive defense tower. In the background one can see striking rock formations on the mountain, similar rocks can also be found in the north of Sardinia.
Noch ein paar Kilometer weiter südlich liegt das Dorf Arbellara mit seinem markantem Wehrturm. Im Hintergrund sieht man markante Felsformationen auf dem Berg, ähnliche Felsen findet man auch im Norden Sardiniens.
At noon we passed the medieval bridge Spin'a Cavallu. Here we paused and refreshed ourselves in the clear water.
Gegen Mittag kamen wir an der mittelalterlichen Brücke Spin'a Cavallu vorbei. Hier machten wir Pause und erfrischten uns im klaren Wasser.
The early afternoon we spent in the romantic town of Sartène.
Den frühen Nachmittag verbrachten wir in der romantischen Stadt Sartène.
On the market square were some oldtimers whose drivers were resting in the shady cafes on the edge of the square.
Auf dem Marktplatz standen einige Oldtimer, deren Fahrer sich in den schattigen Cafes am Rand des Platzes ausruhten.
The afternoon we wanted to spend on the beach of Propriano, but it was a bit windy and not as nice as in the bay below our apartment.
Den Nachmittag wollten wir am Strand von Propriano verbringen, allerdings war es etwas windig und auch nicht so schön wie in der Bucht unterhalb unserer Ferienwohnung.
The trip was then again longer than originally thought. One simply underestimates the travel times through the winding roads. In any case, we spent a few relaxing hours at Plage de Cupabia.
Die Fahrt war dann doch wieder länger ausgefallen als ursprünglich gedacht. Man unterschätzt einfach die Fahrtzeiten durch die kurvigen Straßen. Auf jeden Fall verbrachten wir dann noch ein paar entspannte Stunden am Strand Plage de Cupabia.
In the evening we were lucky again to marvel at a sunset over the sea.
Am Abend hatten wir erneut Glück, einen Sonnengang über dem Meer bestaunen zu können.

Toller Bericht, mal schauen ob wir die 100 knacken lol! Wieviele Kapitel hast Du noch für Korsika! Super Serie
So 4-5 Artikel schaffe ich noch. Aber dann geht es weiter mit Sardinien, danach Sizilien, danach Rhodos, danach Mallorca. Ich denke Ende 2018 bin ich damit durch :-)
Das klingt fast eher nach Programm bis 2022 :-)

Toller Bericht, sehr schöne Fotos. Ich bin schon mehrmals im Revier Korsika gesegelt. Einige der beschriebenen Orte kenne ich von unseren Landgängen.
Insbesondere Bonifacio finde ich wunderschön.
Did you find the archaeological grave sites of the ancient Giants that are known to be buried in Corsica? There are many sites that have been discovered in recent times containing bones of ancient Giants, as I understand it.

Scary. Somebody actually ended up in the valley with the vehicle.
It's not clear if somebody was involved in the accident or if they just rolled the truck downhill because it was end of life.

My X is from Corsica & some very cool friends. The people travel well, (except for the horribly Evil In-law) and have more than a few "Open Secrets" they be soo Gangsta, they almost got me in trouble. lool Love the guys. bisou brothers
I felt really safe in Corsica, have not spotted Gangsta's. Ok, but on the curvy roads they drive like Kamikazis.
They are not the t.v variety type. everyday Cool.. Love to eat etc. etc. etc. I only know the people.. . & yes, they drive .
