This may be a little something in the cave of destiny, or it may not...

We shall begin the evacuation now into the bleeding where tomorrow never comes to leave us with a head like an iron steel monster blasting between the ears where no coupons can ever buy relief.
Without any warning, a Frenchman’s hat came over the wall and landed at my feet where it did a little jig for a moment and then settled into the dust and just lay there as if it had a plan for world domination and could not be moved to reconsider.
Well, I can tell you, once you open that door, all kinds of things fall out.
When the airships came for me I ran fast as I could and got lost somewhere where no one could find me, until they’d gone, and I could come out safe again.
It seems wherever you go, someone wants something from you; so I can tell you right now: invisibility doesn’t work.
Of course they came for me again; subversion in the ranks I heard as I hid under the floorboards.
When they’d gone to look for me somewhere else I passed over all the stepping stones and got to the far shore of where I was, and then realised that I had to go back again over them to get home.
On approaching the cave of destiny you might well ask: what has all this got to do with me?
I’ve been thinking about this for a while now where I’ve been following my dreams that are always coming closer but never seem to arrive; and I guess the only answer I can come up with is: if destiny has any reality, then it must be this: I’ve become stuck between those two dates I cannot avoid passing through, so much so that I’ve forgotten the way out; but I think I don’t need to worry about that because the way out will find me when the last breath comes.
And perhaps belief is really only a choice we take upon ourselves until we find a better one to replace it.
Who said that?
I said that.
Did you make it up?
All the way.
So, if the parrot’s not working any more, what does one do?
I’ve yet to ask that question?
One has to have a back-up plan, that’s what.
But I’m just beginning the first plan, and it cost a lot, I can tell you.
Enough; now listen to me: I’m the one that asks the questions, and you are the one that gives me the answers. Is that clear?
You got any more of that there rum handy?
To go against the system is a fool’s choice mostly; but I guess there’s a ton of fools around these days, doing just that.
I may be behind the times here but isn’t that larceny or something?
I would have you know that it may be larceny to you, but to me it’s normal.
I’m thinking of going on holiday to Majorca this year, you know.
Lucky you, you devil you.
Well, you have to have a back-up plan for all eventualities...
