I decided to rent a room in a house for a week to be by myself and work on some paintings, while kind of trying out how it feels to live in the city that i am only visiting, Rio De Janeiro.
The house has big 15 foot ceilings with giant 15 foot doors. its really cool. i will do a post on that as a studio update.
But for Now i want to show you the coffee shop across the street because I have been enjoying making these coffee posts.
After I dropped off my bags, the first thing I did was walk across the street for some coffee and a bite to eat.
The coffeeshop is in the first floor of an arts community center building. the building has 3 floors with a garden up top.
Above it, is an exhibition space. They roast their own beans here. They dont see the beans they roast, but when the barista opened up the bucket to grind me some for my cup of coffee the smell was amazing.
The woman working was very nice and the place has nice airflow to it.
I ordered a normal cup of coffee this time. the future times I visited this coffee shop I ordered a latte which was amazing. it was served in sort-of like a thick cocktail glass which was interesting.
I just ordered a cup of the black drip coffee. In brazil the cups of coffee are smaller, compared to america, where the cups of coffee are usually "normal size" or huge. This is okay though.
They had packets of organic unrefined sugar which was nice.
Before I ordered the coffee, i actually ordered a carne tapioca quesadilla thing from the small restaurant next to it. I had no idea what the tapioca stuff is they used, until I saw my roomate using it.
Its basically just a white powder that looks like powdered sugar that you put in a frying pan and it congeals or like melts together. it does have a strangely rubbery texture but its amazing! I wonder if its healthier for you than flour.
After this i was charged up and ready to unpack stuff and nervous and excited about this next mini chapter of my adventure.
Yeah I think tapioca is actually quite good for you; I think it has natural sugar that probably gave you the energy boost. I used to eat tapioca pudding it was super bomb; but seems like it went out of style or something I haven't seen much tapioca in years.
i just ate a tapioca quesadilla thing again today in sao paulo. super white in color. its weird how its just a dry powder that you fry and turns into like a tortilla. yeah i will have to look for it in north america, especially if its better for you than corn
Nice latte! I should get something like that.
That coffee shop looks cool and modern, is it cheap?
i thought almost 30 R was alot for drip coffee
You've chosen the perfect house/room to rent on as it is also located near a coffee shop; how convenient. Coffee with cookie, love that pair too. More discoveries to come in this mini chapter of your adventure.
