There is no such thing as a good or bad habit.
A habit means that we are doing something unconsciously and automatically.
If you are functioning unconsciously, it is something that will not benefit you in any way.
Being human means, in reality, having the ability to do things consciously.
That is the beauty of being human. We can do everything consciously.
What an animal does unconsciously, we can do consciously.
We can eat instinctively or unconsciously, without thinking too much about the food we are eating, or chewing, or the amount of food we put in our mouths or on our forks, but we can eat consciously. We can choose the foods that will nourish our bodies. We can be aware of the amount we are choosing to eat in each mouthful, or even the speed at which we chew and eat our meal.
We can breathe unconsciously, and that is how we most often do it, of course; but we can do it consciously. With deep breaths... With a long, gentle exhalation... All of this consciously, taking control of a process that can be automated.
Everything we do in this life, we can do consciously.
The moment we do something consciously, suddenly, the human beings that we are take on a special refinement and beauty.
Even the act of listening and talking to others. If we do it consciously, we take much more advantage of human interactions, and we understand much more of the other person's message, and we are able to express ourselves much better.
So why are we trying to develop habits as if they were something positive to have?
Habit means fixed realities. But when you're in that mode, you don't have to think about anything...
You wake up in the morning. And automatically get out of bed. Without realizing it, you're already in front of the bathroom mirror washing your face, but in an automated way, still unaware that the reflection in front of your eyes is you! You act as if you were washing a piece of clothing... A piece of clothing that has just been worn, and that you are preparing.
No.
Don't try to automate your life. That's not efficiency. That's machine efficiency. This (me) is supposed to function intelligently and consciously.
No one expects us to function like a machine. Let's not even try to do so, because at that level, we will never be better than or even equal to them.

There I times we do things and we don't even realize we did it
But we can change if we add consciousness to what we are doing
That is the special sauce that we can bring to our lives! Agree!
Unfortunately, we are often tied to our jobs for a variety of reasons, and that tether requires us to fall into these patterns. Trust me, I would rather sleep in every day and workout when I feel like it, but I have to get up and workout so I can get off to work!
Yes. Priorities always have took a primal place in our actions, has you mentioned. You are right about it. Dreaming, sometimes, is the only escape that we can have to all those "knots" that makes us do or don't do.
