What has been done so far
1.) At the moment the Community TESTNET condenser is pointing to the official Steem TESTNET blockchain at https://testnet.steemitdev.com
You can visit the official Community Condenser website here https://steemtest.com/. If it states that "HardFork Testing - Steem TESTNET Active", then you can send test transactions and they will be only visible on the Steem TESTNET
If you try to make transfer Steem, the wallet will show your balance in TESTS variables:
2.) Our main goal is to improve Steemit and help with the testing.
The folowing issues were submitted to the official Steem github and Tinman github

https://github.com/steemit/tinman/issues/151 - submitted by @bobinson about MAX_RETRY not being defined in Tinman
https://github.com/steemit/tinman/issues/153 - submitted by @bobinson about better error handling

Would be more than happy to see you join the Community testing network.
What are the next steps:
- Install "Steem Keychain" as advised by @aggroed, with the help of @yabapmatt to further secure keys when testing
- Set up the Official Community TESTNET using Tinman
