SteemApp Major update 2.0 on Google Play

We are proud to present to you the new and much anticipated Feed functionality for Android. Utopian-io has been so kind to add our project to the VIPO (Very Important Project Owners) section and to whitelist us for bug reports. This has motivated our team to work harder and to make a better app for everyone to use.

At first we thought that the main functionality is posting, that is why we have developed it first. But now from statistics we see that people love watching the Feed much more.

With Feed functionality, the app is much more pleasant to use and so much easier to interact with the Steemit Blockchain. Looking through your own posts and post of others on your mobile phone is great. I personally love reading all the latest news through SteemApp every day and we are glad that so many people will be able to do that with both Android and iOS version 2.0.

For Android, we have received 23 bug reports, most of them with a detailed description, steps to reproduce and even video links. This has helped us a lot to spot the problems and to fix them ASAP. To tell you the truth, we have 2 iOS testers on our team, but at the moment we don't have any Android testers. That is why @utopian is the best thing that happend to us, especially for SteemApp on Android.

What changes have been made in 2.0?

Feed functionality

Of course, the main functionality in this release is Feed! It is so nice to be able to touch the articles and swipe through them. Reading your followers articles, watching videos, checking out what is in trending right now is something that has been missed so much in version 1.0. Feed is loading really fast because the app is very native. You can swipe through Blog, Feed, Trending, Hot right with your finger, you don't need to press a button. Pull upwards and the posts will be refreshed.

Onboarding

For many users, it has been hard in understanding what are private keys, where to get them, and how to get the Private Posting Key, how to get the right QR code from Steemit. That is why we decided to help them the first time they log in and left an information icon so that they can always come back and watch onboarding again.

Feed preloader & No blog post placeholder

We just thought that it would look much nicer if there was a preloader before the posts appears on the Blog, Feed, Trending, Hot, New pages. An easy development, but would really make the app more pleasant to use. Before that, there was just the background color and a loader.

Many of users who log in, don't have blog posts written and an empty blog page is not something that anyone would like to see. That is why we made this nice text which motivates the user to post their first blog post.

Upvote functionality

We have also integrated the functionality to upvote posts inside and outside the article. Besides that, you can also see the number of upvotes, reposts, comments, value of the post, time of post, author reputation and how long ago the post was made.

Feed swipe through

You can easily swipe between different feeds. Blog, Feed, Trending, Hot, New

Gif support

It's very nice to see gifs appear on the card preview, don't you think?

I just updated the app and used it to try to upvote and leave a comment on this post but I couldn't figure out how to get the comment section to open... How do I do this?

Hi, @chronogn. We have not finished the commenting part yet. But it is on its way. We are moving step by step to bring more features to SteemApp
