Did Anyone Here Reach Dolphin Status Without Buying Any Steem Power?
Just curious to see if there are people who reached 5000 SP without investing any of their money into buying Steem Power. For me, that seems like an amazing thing.

It would definitely be an amazing thing now. Early in, maybe it was possible to become a dolphin or higher because potential payouts were so much higher, but that's changed dramatically with different code changes in hard forks and with more people accessing the reward pool.
Now, it's really difficult to get beyond 2,000 SP without some kind of investment within a year, or doing something else, like using bidbots regularly (and getting good returns) or working as a paid curator or with steemcleaners or something like that.

Yes, that is (would be) indeed an amazing thing.
That would show the fact that there is a real and strong community on Steem.
I (and probably most of the people) have not even reached 500 Steem Power.
The reality is the fact that people are ignoring other people's blog posts, because the amount of Steem Power in their Steem account is low.
Multiple people told me this, and this explanation sounds like the most obvious answer to the "Why almost no one cares about my Steemit blog posts?" question.
And this is why I rarely use Steemit nowadays to post blog posts.
I don't blame them. Everyone is doing this for the money.
But the whole platform would be more successful, if the minnows and the redfish/planktons would work together/co-operate, and would not focus on the posts of dolphins, orcas and whales.
But I am still active nowadays on the Steem blockchain.
I use other dApps (mostly dPoll) on the Steem blockchain.
Actually, @xplosive, if you don't mind a differing point of view, while there are definitely plenty of orcas and whales that aren't regularly curating, and plenty of people who regardless of their status autovoting or joining curation trails, the problem isn't so much ignoring posts, be it low or high SP account holders, but the ongoing problem with visibility.
So, the higher SP folks are off doing other things, renting out delegation, becoming a part of a curation trail like OCD and Curie, and leaving the bulk of manual curation to the rest of us.
I would also say, by and large, that plankton and minnows are upvoting one another, simply because there's several times more of them than there are of everyone else. It's a numbers game.
There are lots of initiatives around that are helping plankton and minnows. Maybe you've checked into them and didn't find anything to your liking, but they do exist.
I myself am a small dolphin, and I know I end up upvoting smaller accounts way more than larger ones simply because that's what I find to read. Larger accounts, as I said, tend to post, comment and manually upvote less, making it harder to find their posts.
I also know that I have smaller accounts upvoting me regularly, but most of them have done that since I was a minnow, too. I've not seen an uptick in any upvoting on my posts since becoming a dolphin late last year. The one thing that does happen to me on a fairly regular basis is a curie upvote. If you look at that curation trail, though, you will find the vast majority are $0.02 or less, and curie actually prefers smaller accounts.
So, anyway, a different perspective to consider. I think there's enough of us newer folks around who have been coming up through the ranks that looking solely to upvote the big accounts isn't what we're really doing, and the bigger accounts aren't simply ignoring us smaller accounts. They just don't see us, just like we don't see more than maybe 5-10% of what's out there.
