Cycling to wild forest near Burgas

in #actifit5 years ago (edited)

This Saturday I spent with @outlinez and other friends cycling 16 km outside the city Burgas.

As it was raining during the week and still muddy, we could not drive through the dirt roads. That is why with my friends we decided to go to a picnic in a small forest near the monastery "St. Bogoroditsa".

We packed the backpacks with some things for the picnic and got on the bikes.

The monastery is located between the Burgas neighborhoods Meden rudnik and Gorno Ezerovo near the village Cherni vrah.

To get there, we went through part of Meden Rudnik.

Along peak Shiloto.

Shortly afterwards there is a splendid panoramic view of Meden Rudnik, the Uzunheren Protected Site, the Mandren Lake and the Strandzha Mountain in the background.

There are spacious fields that we crossed through the asphalt road (quite destroyed in some places).

A shepherd with a herd of sheep was visible in the distance.

Colorful graphite stood out among the the field.

After another bair, a new beautiful view followed, this time to Lake Bourgas.

After a great downhill we reached the Monastery "St. Bogoroditsa".

History of the Monastery:
According to tradition, Gorno-Ezerovo Monastery "St. Bogoroditsa" dates back to the 12th century. The monastery was built near a former Thracian sanctuary with curative springs, each of which has a different chemical composition and healing properties. Later, there was a hostel in the monastery, which sheltered guests who arrived here to be treated.

In its present form, the Gorno-Ezerovo Monastery dates back to 1982. and consists of two churches, 40 chapels and residential buildings, the entire complex being maintained only by mother Serafima.

Today the monastery was closed and we could not enter.

In the forest was pleasant and we lit a fire.

We walked into the forest and reached the small dam in the area.

The grass was full of a lot of crocuses.

There were beautiful mosses and woody mushrooms.

After a pleasant rest we returned to the city.

On the return I shot these cute goats. These are my last pictures for today.

Perhaps the next time I drive to this place, the monastery will be open and I will tell you more about it.

Thank you for stopping by!

These photos are as beautiful as they are meditative. They transport me into a soft yet powerful landscape full of mustard greens and blue skies. The close ups at the end are a nice touch to the collection and give some context as to the smaller wonders of nature.

Thanks a lot for nice comment @edouard for smaller wonders of nature.

I think you are the only person I see doing regular bike rides for @actifit. I think a lot of people would like this better than walking. How does this work? How the the phone got your distance while on a bike?

You sure have a wonderful place to ride. Few are so lucky in location.

When I cycling, I keep my phone in the backpack. It counts my activity, but not as it would if I walked the same distance. I like to ride a bicycle and there are many wonderful places in the nature where to ride. Thanks for the comment @fitinfun!

16km is quite a lot. Lots of exercise. I get cramps next morning when I ride for long. Hope you feeling fine.

Posted using Partiko Android

It was still muddy and so we were making a shorter route this time. Usually, we cycle more kilometers at the weekend :). I'm sorry about your cramps problem. Thank's for comment @fredkese!

You had a great time while cycling! The views around are really stunning and beautiful, those views definitely made you time out there more worthwhile.

Hopefully, next time you will get to enter the monastary, i would love to see the inside of it...

Great photos!

Thank you very much @audreybits ! We really had a great time while cycling! And I hope the monastery is open the next time we go. 🙂

Lovely sites here: from the highway to the cityscape to the rural place to the Thracian monastery to Nature herself. (One side derailing, damn those Thracian provincial must've been big. That or Thracian monasteries where quite a popular thing in 12th century Byzantium / Eastern Roman Empire with Orthodox Xtianity and what not.) I love, equally, the sharpness of the fotos (photos) and how I can eyeball without having to look so closely at the screen to make things out. Feels like yah painted every foto here instead of just capturing a moment of time, good on yah.

Also look at the sheep-n-goats :*3 - Them cute son of a bees flocking around innocently. Anywho, I do like to imagine the Byzantine influences with modern architecture clashing-n-mixing together. Too bad we didn't get fotos (photos) for this occasion. Anyways, happy cyclin'/trekkin'!

Thank you for your comment @theironfelix ! I hope the next time when I cycling to this place, I can make more photos of the monastery.

These images bring a lot of nostalgia. The beautiful natural elements contrasting with the decaying man-made traces.
I loved the mosses and woody mushrooms. Amazing colors. Great pictures

Thank you very much @hlezama!

The city doesn't look somehow special but the views around it are beautiful. Do you go cycling every weekend? It's so nice to have a picnic after a challenging hike! Especially after some rain...

The monastery building looks like typical orthodox churches that we have in Slovakia :) I like this architectural style..

Nature there is stunning and I can see that the spring is knocking on the door already :) I love those flowers!

You have probably the best actifit reports ever :)

Thank you for sharing! Happy cycling :)

Hi @delishtreats :) Typically, weekends I prefer to cycling with friends around nature. Especially when the weather is nice. Yes :) the spring is knocking on the door! Thanks for comment!
