Small learn about Albino and Melanistic animals

in #animals3 years ago

Hello everyone 😊
I'm sure you all heard about albino animals and you know how they look like. But myb some of you don't know what causes it .

Albinism is absence of any pigmentation or coloration also, it's a congenital disorder which means that it's present before birth.
It is a defect in one of several genes that produce or distribute melanin.
In order to be albino you have to have mutated genes of both parents.

It is a very rear genetic condition. That's why albino animals are extra special and endangered.

But what was new to me - melanistic animals
Have you ever heard about them?

I learned about them few days ago xD
Melanism is the increased development of the dark-colored pigment melanin in the skin or hair. It is also known as Pseudomelanism.

It causes faulty pigment cells that partially affect most parts of an animal's body, but the eye color of creatures are not affected.
It's identifiable by dark spots or enlarged stripes, which cover a large part of the body of the animal.
And is a much more common genetic condition.
So basically every black animal is a melanistic one buttt only around 6 percent of the world's big cats are born with melanism.
Which makes them also unique.

In the end of the day they are all beautiful ❤

Hope you like my post and have learned something :D
Stay Safe ✌
