En mis dos últimos post les hablé sobre como ingresé en esta maravillosa orquesta y como y donde fue nuestro primer encuentro. Hoy vengo a contarles sobre nuestro segundo encuentro y la parte más triste de toda esta gran experiencia. ¡Espero lo disfruten!
In my last two posts I talked about how I got into this incredible orchestra and how and where our first meeting was like. Today I am going to tell you about our second meeting and the saddest part of this experience. Hope you enjoy it!
Luego de nuestro maravilloso primer encuentro tuvimos algunos días para descansar y prepararnos para el último encuentro de preparación para lo que sería nuestra gira por Estados Unidos con el maestro Gustavo Dudamel.
After out first meeting, we had a few days to rest and prepare for the final preparation meeting for what would be our the United States tour with maestro Gustavo Dudamel.
Llegaba el día, muy emocionados volvíamos todos a encontrarnos en ese maravilloso lugar del que les hablé anteriormente. Ahora con obras nuevas que afrontar y con la mentalidad de que el objetivo (nuestro concierto en Venezuela y nuestra gira) estaba por llegar.
The day arrived, and we very excited came back to meet again in that beautiful place I told you previously. Now we had new pieces to deal with, and with the idea that the objective (our concert in Venezuela and our international tour) was yet to come.
Comenzamos nuestra rutina intensa de 11 horas de ensayo diarias, pero esta vez más motivados, dando lo mejor para afrontar ese gran reto.
We started our intense rutine of 11 hours of daily rehearsal, but this time more motivated , giving our best to face this great challenge.
Luego de dos semanas de intensos ensayos, estábamos a solo dos días de nuestro concierto y a una semana de nuestro viaje, pero al parecer, no todo podía ser tan bueno.
After two weeks of intense rehearsal, we were only two days away from our concert and a week away from our trip, but apparently not everything could be that good.
Estábamos almorzando preparándonos para nuestro ensayo cuando se nos citó a una reunión con el director preparador y con todo el equipo de profesores. A mí esto me daba una muy mala sensación, ya que solo unos meses atrás se me había invitado a una gira por Colombia con la Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar de Venezuela (en este momento no era parte de ella) y por problemas políticos en mi país se había cancelado la misma.
We were having lunch and getting ready for our next rehearsal when we were summoned to a meeting with the preparing conductor and with the entire team of teachers. This gave me a very bad feeling, since only a few months ago I had been invited to a tour of Colombia with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela (at this time I was not part of it) and due to political problems in my country, it had been canceled it.
Al subir a la reunión se confirmaron mis sospechas, una vez más, por problemas políticos la gira había sido cancelada. En mi primera experiencia se tomó todo con más calma, ya que era una orquesta de adultos y profesionales acostumbrados a viajar por el mundo, pero esta vez era una orquesta de niños donde este quizá era la primera vez que realizarían un tour (como en mi caso)
Going up to the meeting my suspicions were confirmed, once again, due to political problems the tour had been canceled. In my first experience everything was taken more slowly, since it was an orchestra of adults and professionals who used to traveling around the world, but this time it was a children's orchestra in which this was maybe the first time that they would make a tour (as in my case).
El ambiente fue como el de un funeral, luego de tanto esfuerzo, se había desmoronado la ilusión de realizar todos esos conciertos por Estados Unidos, algunos entre lagrimas y con el peor ánimo decidimos que a pesar de no poder realizar la gira, había muchas personas esperando nuestro concierto en Venezuela y había que cumplirlo.
The atmosphere was like that of a funeral, after so much effort, the illusion of performing all those concerts in the United States had crumbled, some in tears and with the worst spirit we decided that despite not being able to do the tour, there were many people waiting for our concert in Venezuela and we had to do it.
Esa misma tarde ensayamos, pero esta vez, ¡junto a los profesores! Fue una muy linda experiencia que todas esas generaciones pudieran hacer música juntos como la familia que somos en nuestro Sistema de orquestas, tal como nos enseñó nuestro maestro José Antonio Abreu.
That same afternoon we rehearsed, but this time, together with the teachers! It was a very nice experience that all those generations could make music together as the family that we are in El Sistema, just as our maestro José Antonio Abreu taught us.
Luego de continuar nuestros ensayos, llegó el día del concierto, muchísimas personas nos esperaban para el concierto, tantas ¡que ni cabían en la sala! Habían personas en las escaleras, otras viendo por pantallas fuera de la sala, fue una magnífica sensación y experiencia.
After continuing our rehearsals, the day of the concert arrived, many people were waiting for us ,for the concert, so many that they didn't even fit in the concert hall! There were people on the stairs, others watching on screens outside the room, it was a great feeling and experience.
Al final, el concierto fue un gran éxito, lo dimos todo y logramos un resultado increíble del que les dejaré un pequeño extracto para que lo disfruten:

Al salir del concierto nos dieron la maravillosa noticia de que nos reuniriamos nuevamente en algunos días para realizar otro concierto con obras totalmente nuevas, con tal noticia todos partimos muy motivados a nuestros hogares a seguir preparándonos para mas desafíos.
When the concert ended, we received the wonderful news that we would meet again in a few days to make together another concert with totally new pieces, with this news we all left very motivated to our homes to continue preparing for more challenges.
