Hello dear Hive community!
Hoy seguiré contándoles sobre una de las mejores experiencias de toda mi vida, mi participación como oboe principal de la Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional Juvenil de Venezuela, una selección de solo 250 músicos de todo el país, donde somos más de 500.000 músicos. ¡Espero lo disfruten!
Today I will continue talking about one of the best experiences of my whole life, my participation as principal oboe of National Youth Orchestra of Venezuela, a selection of only 250 musicians from all over the country, in which we are more than 500.000 musicians. Hope ya enjoy it!
Luego del minucioso proceso de audiciones del que les hablé en el post anterior, ¡Lo habíamos logrado! Ya había fecha para el primer encuentro, este se llevaría a cabo en un lugar inusual muy alejado de la civilización donde la naturaleza era protagonista.
After the thorough audition process I told you in my previous post, we had made it! There was already a date for the first meeting, this would be in an unusual place, a place far from civilization where nature was the protagonist.
Y llegó el día, la maleta ya lista para este primer encuentro de aproximadamente 15 días, donde conocería mucha gente nueva, maravillosos músicos de todo el país que se convertirían en grandes amigos.
The day arrived, the suitcase was ready to this first meeting of approximately 15 days, in which I would meet a lot of new people, wonderful musicians from all over the country, who would become my great friends.
Llegamos al lugar, algo nuevo para todos nosotros, vegetación por todos lados y 350 personas entre profesores e integrantes de la orquesta preparándose para el primer ensayo.
We got to the place, something new for all of us, vegetation everywhere, and 350 people among the staff, teachers and members of the orchestra, preparing themselves to the first rehearsal.
¡Comenzamos! Era un lugar genial donde la música y la naturaleza era lo único que había, nada de tecnología, pues no había cobertura en ningún sitio, y al no haber nada más que nos pudiera de distraer hubo una gran concentración y un maravilloso resultado. Sin embargo, nos costó mucho acostumbrarnos a esa dinámica, pues habían muchos insectos y animales al rededor de las cabañas, compartir habitación con 3 compañeros y tener que turnarnos para bañarnos, ir al baño y todo lo que se puedan imaginar.
We already started! It was a nice place where music and nature were the only thing there was, no technology, there was no signal service, and since there was nothing that could distract us there was a great concentration and an incredible result. However, it took us time to get used to this dynamic, because there were many insects and animals around the cabins, sharing room with three mates, and have to take turns to take a shower, go to the bathroom, and all you can imagine.
Luego de algunos ensayos y talleres, se determinó que yo fuera el principal de la fila de oboes. El principal de una fila o sección debe velar y asumir la responsabilidad del funcionamiento de ella, y además ser el solista de dicha fila.
After some rehearsals and workshops, it was determined that I was the principal oboe. The principal of a section must watch and assume the responsability for the section operation, and this also must be the soloist in this section.
Un gran y muy satisfactorio logro para mí ser el primer oboe de esta orquesta que representaba a todo un país. Luego de intensos días de trabajo, (pues ensayabamos unas 11 horas diarias) muchos amigos y grandes experiencias, culminabamos el primero de dos encuentros antes de partir a lo que sería nuestra gira por Estados Unidos con el maestro Gustavo Dudamel.
A great and very satisfying achievement for me, being the principal oboe of this orchestra, which represent the whole country. After intense days of work, (since we rehearsed 11 hours a day) many friends and great experiences, we ended the first of two meeting before go to the United States tour with maestro Gustavo Dudamel.
Todos nos devolvimos a nuestras hogares en los diferentes estados del país a compartir con cada niño el aprendizaje que habíamos obtenido, ya que de esto se trata nuestro sistema de orquestas, si un niño sabe A, B y C, puede enseñarle A y B a los niños que están comenzando, eso nos enseñó el Maestro José Antonio Abreu, de quien les hablaré en un próximo post.
All of us returned to our homes in the different states of the country, to share our learning with each child of our states, since this is what El Sistema is about, if a child knows what is A, B and C, this can teaches A and B to other children who are starting, this is what maestro José Antonio Abreu taught to us, who I am going to talk about on my next post.
