Greetings my friends from the Hive platform, continuing with the theme of Diary of my thesis, today I will tell you about the experience I had on the visit to the PORT herbarium in Guanare in January 2018.
The trip was made by my financial and physical (later you will understand why I say physical means). Take a bus that went to Acarigua, upon reaching the terminal, transfer to Guanare.
Saludos mis amigos de la plataforma Hive, siguiendo con la temática de Diario de mi tesis, el día de hoy les hablare de la vivencia que tuve en la visita al herbario PORT en Guanare en Enero de 2018.
El viaje lo realicé por mis propios medios económicos y físicos también (más adelante entenderán por qué digo medios físicos). Tome un autobús que iba para Acarigua, al llegar al terminal realice el trasbordo para Guanare.
Upon arriving in Guanare, I had to take another bus to take me to UNELLEZ, because the campus where the herbarium is located was on the outskirts of the city. When I arrived at the corresponding stop, it was full of people because there was a transport stop, I had to wait at least 1 hour. Luckily I met a man who had the University uniform and asked him if he was going there, he said yes, and he told me that I could go with him because they were going to pass him looking for a transport from UNELLEZ.
Al llegar a Guanare debía tomar otro autobús que me llevara a la UNELLEZ, porque el campus donde se encuentra el herbario estaba en las afueras de la ciudad. Cuando llegue a la para correspondiente, la misma estaba full de personas porque había paro de transporte, me toco esperar por lo menos 1 hora. Por suerte me encontré a un señor que tenía el uniforme de la Universidad y le pregunte si iba hacia allá, me dijo que si, y me dijo que me podía ir con el porque lo iban a pasar buscando con un transportes de la UNELLEZ.
Upon reaching the place, it was like reaching a desert. Impressive facilities, but there were no people. This is due to the fact that for that year the universities were on work stoppages and wage protests, together with the transport stoppage that day. But by luck, well yes, I continue with my luck, because it was really a matter of luck finding a teacher in the herbarium that would allow me to enter and review the samples. In fact, he opened me up and went to do other activities outside, I was left alone there.
Last several hours reviewing each of the excicates, in this herbarium the number of samples of Orchidaceae was 3 shelves with 10 divisions and I managed to review all of them in a single day. The professor who opened the door never came back, some thesis undergraduate students arrived and were in charge of closing.
Al llegar al lugar, era como llegar a un desierto. Unas instalaciones imponentes, pero no había gente. Esto debido a que para ese año las universidades estaban en paros y protestas salariales, aunado al paro de transporte de ese día. Pero por suerte, pues si, sigo con mi por suerte, porque realmente fue cuestión de suerte encontrar a un profesor en el herbario que me permitiera ingresar y revisar las muestras. De hecho, me abrió y se fue hacer otras actividades fuera, me quede sola allí.
Dure varias horas revisando cada una de las excicatas, en este herbario el número de muestras de Orchidaceae era de 3 estantes con 10 divisiones y logre en un solo día revisarlas todas. El profesor que me abrió nunca regreso, llegaron unos estudiantes tesistas de pregrado y se encargaron de cerrar.
If they thought that everything had already ended, well no, now it was time for the return. It was a long distance from the herbarium to the entrance of the campus, which I had to walk. The stop to take the bus to the Guanare terminal was at the entrance. As I had already told you, there was a transport stop so the wait was long. At the stop were 4 young people, also waiting.
In that long wait a red bus passed but on the reverse side of my route, the young men indicated that the donkey (as they called the red bus) would turn around and pass by the stop, to take us to the city. Indeed it was, the bus arrived at the stop and as we could we got on, the bus was full of people.
The bus had to arrive near the terminal, which was not the case, it turned out leaving us far away. I have to walk again, but this time a longer distance. Finally I reached the end and I got on the bus that was going to Barquisimeto.
And so ends this story of Diary of my thesis
Si pensaban que ya había finalizado todo, pues no, ahora tocaba el regreso. Del herbario a la entrada del campus era una distancia larga, la cual me toco caminar. La parada para tomar el autobus para el terminal de Guanare estaba en la entrada. Como ya les había contado, había paro de transporte así que la espera fue larga. En la parada estaban 4 jóvenes, esperando también.
En esa larga espera paso un autobús rojo pero del lado inverso a mi ruta, los jóvenes me indicaron que el burro (así le decían al autobús rojo) daría la vuelta y pasaría por la parada, para llevarnos a la ciudad. En efecto así fue, el autobús llego a la parada y como pudimos nos logramos subimos, el autobús estaba full de personas.
El autobús debía llegar cerca del terminal, cosa que no fue así, resulto dejándonos lejos. Nuevamente me toco caminar, pero esta vez una distancia más larga. Finalmente llegue al terminan y me subí al autobús que iba para Barquisimeto.
