Esta puerta daba entrada a la ciudad de Gibraltar desde donde estaba el antiguo puerto militar, fue realizada por el arquitecto Paul Philippe Cret en 1932. Fue un detalle de los Estados Unidos de América a Gibraltar por el apoyo entre las armadas de ambos países durante la Primera Guerra Mundial. En aquel entonces era solamente la Guerra Mundial, por no haber llegado aun la segunda.
This gateway gave access to the city of Gibraltar from where the old military port was located. It was designed by the architect Paul Philippe Cret in 1932. It was a gesture from the United States of America to Gibraltar for the support between the navies of the two countries during the First World War. At that time it was only the First World War, as the Second World War had not yet arrived.
Actualmente se encuentra en medio de la ciudad al haberse ganado terreno al mar. Construida con roca del mismo peñón, tiene una entrada con un arco y sobre el hay dos grandes medallones dorados con el escudo de los Estados Unidos de América y otro del Departamento de la Marina.
It now stands in the middle of the city as it has been reclaimed from the sea. Built with rock from the same rock, it has an entrance with an arch and above it there are two large golden medallions with the coat of arms of the United States of America and another of the Department of the Navy.
Por el otro lado de la entrada hay una placa con una galera y una dedicatoria hecha que dice lo siguiente:

A su alrededor hay varios cañones apuntando a la antigua costa desde las almenas. Era la artillería que defendió Gibraltar durante los asedios españoles en el siglo XVIII para intentar recuperar el Peñón.
Around it are several cannons pointing to the old coast from the battlements. It was the artillery that defended Gibraltar during the Spanish sieges in the 18th century in an attempt to recapture the Rock.
Donde estaban los buques españoles ahora hay un MacDonalds y nuevas edificaciones.
Where the Spanish ships were, there is now a MacDonalds and new buildings.
El nombre del arquitecto se conserva a un lado de la puerta.
The architect's name is preserved on the side of the door.
Bajando las escaleras hay colocadas unas placas recordando la memoria de los marinos muertos en buques de las dos armadas hundidos en la Primera Guerra Mundial y otra placa colocada más tarde recordando a los soldados que lucharon en la toma del Norte de África durante la Operación "Torch",donde Gibraltar jugó un gran papel siendo el Cuartel General.
Down the stairs there are plaques commemorating the memory of the sailors who died on ships of both navies sunk in the First World War and another plaque placed later commemorating the soldiers who fought in the capture of North Africa during Operation Torch, where Gibraltar played a great role as the General Headquarters.
